Playstation one on the cheap!

Post by doodude »

As a complete novice at this I tend to think this looks like a good deal. Maybe too good of a deal.

And you know what they say, "if it seems to good to be true..."

Can you still get mod chips for these?

What does the more experienced among ya think?

Nice price. I just got opne off ebay for $15 shipped, but I didn't see this.

there are chips still available at eurasia.nu, I just ordered 2. It is a very easy mod if you know how to solder at all. I can send you one if you want.

Im thinking of getting 2 consoles at this price & then trying to put a chip in each to cover US & JP regions.
I guess this makes sense, right!?

Thanks for the point in the right direction anyway.

So I guess this is a good price for a used console only with 30 days return tho', huh?
At least if I burn it down while soldering the cost of the consoles & the chips will be cheap enough.

Im just as likely to burn down the console as successfully mod it with a chip so at this price I could cover myself.

Also, I have 2 of every console I have ( SNES, N64, SS, DC ) except my PS2. Just weird about backups.
Dont get me started on all the back up sticks...

I lucked out and got an already mod-chipped PSOne from my local flea market for $5. Really cute and handy thing to have. I have one of those little screw-on LCD screens for it too so sometimes I just like to lie in bed and play In The Hunt.

I just got my $15 PS1 and the disc holding mechanism is broken. Damn.

Anybody got a spare one of those things? The little black disc with three bearings.

Wish I had ordered from the auction doodude found.

edit:
they are $7 on ebay and the seller compensated me.

Speaking of which, The seller claims to have all models available so I sent him a note asking him to clarify.
"You have EVERY model available?"

He responded:

"I HAVE AL MODEL #'S AVAIL SCPH-5501, 7007 ETC. SCPH-1001 IS PICTURED BUT I HAVE EVERY MODEL AVAIL. IT DOESN'T INCLUDE THE SMALLER WHITE UNITS. THANKS :)"

So if this is the case & I intend to get 2 PS1's from him, which model (s) would be the best used PS1 to get if I plan to install a chip for back ups & JAP games in at least one & possibly keep one stock?

I know nothing about these things so any advice is VERY MUCH appreciated!

doodude, I did not realize you were looking for PS1 and not PSOne specifically.

My cousin gave me a modded PS1 system when he moved, which he asked me to deal with. It has just been sitting in my room for months. If you want to pay for shipping then I can send it over to you.
