Chicago Performance

Post by Andi »

I know there are a couple people around here from Chicago.

I'm MC'ing a little show on Friday May 13th at 9PM. It takes place at Heaven Gallery:

1550 N. North Milwaukee 2nd Floor
Chicagom Illinois 60622
www.heavengallery.com

It's off the north blue line at Damen and about a block from the station. There will be some live video scoring, noise and drone performances, improvisation, and of course, I'll be busting a rhyme or two, plus hosting the mother-fucker.

It's either free, or there is a suggested donation (that means you don't have to pay). It'll be fun. PM me if you need some more info.

What kinda noise/drone stuff? Are these all local artists? (And do they call themselves artists before musicians?)
The white clouds floating on the great blue sky
And the boiling red blood shed in fierce gaming
Those who give up halfway through
Their battered bodies will never forget!

Segata Sanshiro, Segata Sanshiro! Sega Saturn... shiro!

They are all local artists (who call themselves artists) and none of them are really of any local fame either.

The noise stuff is basically ambient drone music using digitally manipulated live instruments. I know a couple of people are doing a drone/guitar duet with pedals and a laptop. And someone else is doing noise film-scoring with manipulated tracks from some 70's synthesizer (I can't remember the model).

There are a lot of performances on the agenda that I don't know about though.
