No, derailing a thread by/and consistently arguing with someone (and over various threads) isn't "tasteful" at all.

I'd have to side with GP 10x more than yourself. I've never had any issues with his posts. Some of yours, however..

With that being said (or not) I've had issues with other people, as maybe somewhere people have had issues with me. It's the internet. Icycalm is an asshole- and I hate him- but again, don't wish the banning. It's a message board with threads- and posts- and there are bound to be obnoxious people in here- I ignore those who get on my nerves- and don't lose a wink of sleep over it. I don't know the specifics- but from the looks of things- at first glance I don't like the idea that he was banned. (if I get bored enough I'll read some stuff over and see what exactly I missed).

I'm just hopeing it doesn't set a precedent for more people- there's alot of asses here that I don't like what they say- but I'd miss em if they were gone

There's a difference between being an asshole and having every thread you touch immediately be derailed into a shitfest.

Well, I read through the ban thread. He gets so insanely worked up over minute details - everytime. My opinion doesn't mean much, but I say, keep him banned.

people get warned all the time. He does go off at the smallest thing. maybe some kind of probation system is needed since we have "lost" a few posters this way.

now i may be new here...so i have not seen the icycalm of old you all speak of....

but pretty much any of his posts i have read.....including the whole thread that led to his banning, he was very abusive to fellow members and did indeed tend to completely hi-jack threads into non-sensical name calling and patting himself on the back.....

in the thread he got banned for, he was being extremely rude and abusive to GP in particular, when all GP did was point out some flaws in both his opinions and reviews.....

icycalm then began to call him names, question his reading skills, etc.....

in a small community like this made up of people who are all very passionate about the genre we are bound to have differences of opinions and occasionally arguments.....but the way icy went about things wasnt productive at all.....you can disagree without name calling and abusive statements.....

i think the ban was justified....regardless of his prior good standing in the community, his present behavior was unacceptable

just my 2 cents

GP's conduct in particular was totally unacceptable. WTF ragging on me for 3 pages because he never learned to read, and when I told him to leave me alone and learn some English he went through my reviews with a magnifying glass to find a single mistake, and when he couldn't find anything he comes back saying that I did not MENTION this one thing from the strategy guide! And to cap it all off the illiterate bastard had the nerve to compare my site to IGN. To IGN! Totally unacceptable behavior. And all for what? Because he misread one of my sentences, and when I told him so his pride was hurt to such a degree, that he simply HAD to find a way to get back at me. People do not get much pettier than this, nor much stupider.

LOL. I'm banned from his forum, so can't really defend myself. Pretty much hilarity though that someone who lives to write game reviews and screams "reviews should be critical" until they're blue in the face can not only not take a single bit of criticism, but is hypocritical enough to tell me I can't read when if he would've grasped my original post to it's fullest, he would've never found himself in such a shit storm.
