He was actually banned before.

He kept coming here of course under another name just to contact people, as we hadn't IP banned him. As someone who had, in the past, posted things that I thought were well written, well thought through or generally worthwhile, I wanted to give him a chance to be the older Icycalm again.

So, I suggested he could have his old account back, on the understanding that it was mostly so he could contact people, or that he'd agree not to be part of flamewars or at least react to people better.

Well - we all see how that turned out.

We're not mini-Hitlers here, or at least I hope we don't come across like that, but disruptive users have been bringing the quality of the place down for a while, and it's got to the point where we're having to address that. Sad but true.

Props to the mods, that guy was a jerk. I remember him being not too bad a long time ago, and I use to really like his website (mainly for the pictures of Tokyo), but his behavior lately was totally uncalled for.

Yeah, you have to wonder what brought about icycalm's superiority complex and cynicism.

I'm also curious whether some people try to hound and goad others into breaking out since having treated folks like Recap and icycalm with the same respect I'd prefer to be treated, I haven't been subjectd to any severe insults of the sort they throw in forums.

I can see why he was banned but it's always unfortunate when we lose a knowledgeable member.

It's impressive the number of posts here that agree on the same fact: that he used to be an okay guy and then he had a sudden change.

Since I was accused to defend an almost-nazi from banning some time ago, I suppose I should be write something nice about Icycalm too. Well, the nicest thing I can think of is just that above. I too, can recall a time when he was a lot more reasonable, and often an interesting read.

He offended GP rather straightforwardly though, so he called for all this.
