But I read somewhere that those have a problem as they tend to not respond correctly, especially the earlier versions, more info on this anyone?
Thanks for the info...i'll check it out.
BTW: Do you mean they don't respond correctly once modded or in general? If in general...that couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, that one of the main points of it's greatness. I have two of the first batch and they both work like a charm. Leagues above the HORI EX type sticks (even if modded with decent parts). Hell, leagues above anything I've tried (which is almost everything available past and present)
However, there was a recall just days before this thing was released. A few got out from early shippers pre the recall. I can't speak on those. However, iirc, the maker was willing to swap those out. If those people who got theirs early didn't swap for the new and improved...their loss i guess. Everyone I know that has one agrees that it is hands down the best there is (especially for the price).

I think non-hacked ones, I think I read it on the VFDC forum but I am not sure, it might be on the shoryuken forum also.

Hmm.weird. From looking at those threads..must be something with GGPO (and a few saying difficulties in T5). Everyone over at VFDC seems to not have issue (that I've heard of, at least the seasoned players). Additionally, i've played frequently on VF4, VF5, GG AC, with no trouble what so ever. I use Bryan a lot in T5 and the taunting they mentioned was never an issue either. It must have something to do with GGPO or the similar. Could also be that a lot of folks over at srk are used to MAS/P360 sticks or crappy Hori EX's which are far less sensitive. The VSHG is super sensitive so I imagine if you are inputting 3 buttons and a direction and your fingers are not in sync, it would be easy to miss (by making one of the input far earlier than the others) while it would be more forgiving on a less sensitive stick.
I've had both of mine since the beginning (post-recall) and under frequent use, both work perfectly to date and feel just like the day I bought them. Feels like playing on a top of the line Japanese cab =)
Anyway, sorry to get too far off topic but I still stand by this as being the best option hands down.

This is not what I read, I saw people saying that it was not responding if you wanted to do dash toward the sides (I assume they are talking about Virtua Fighter 5?) it would not react right away and it would demand that you redo it a second time.
I don't mean to bash this good stick however, I was looking to get it padhacked it myself so that I could play shmups and maybe get myself Virtua Fighter 5 on the Xbox 360 to play online. But since I read those posts, I was not sure what to do anymore.
I've got a VSHG and had no problems playing SHMUPs, its a trully awesome stick!! but if you intend to play Beat-em-ups with multiple button press moves there is in issue otherwise its the best stock stick on the market, ships with all Sanwa parts!
Hey guys, I want a 360 stick, but I hear the Hori EX2 is crap, and the Virtua Stick High Grade has some input issues that reportedly didn't get fixed.
I still want a 360 compatible stick, though.
Lol... complicated isn't it? I could get a custom made 360 compatible stick, though. But it will cost more then just getting an out of the box stick which would then be padhacked.
Damn! I'm still waiting for my RFA to arrive from play-asia. Apparently it shipped on the 26th. I ordered a Jap Xbox 360 Arcade the following day, and that arrived a week ago.
The only two games (shmups) I have for it at the moment are Shiki 3 which I already have on PC, and Triggerheart which I already have for Dreamcast

But if it isn't padhacked, I won't be able to use it on a xbox360, no? Since it is for PS3...

I ordered a Xbox 360 Arcade too, it shipped today even though the status says "Ships within 5-15 days", how did they pulled that?

ahh ok I've never tried to use it on a 360, as I scanned the previous discussion in this Xbox 360 thread I noticed posts about VSHG, I made an assumption that there has recently been an easy way to make it compatible with the 360.
So I now see you're saying you have to pad hack it to make it compatible with the 360?
HardcoreOtaku wrote:So I now see you're saying you have to pad hack it to make it compatible with the 360?
Yes, some japanese are selling it pre-padhacked on YJA for 18,000 Yens. That's not too bad, but it will cost me way more to get it shipped to me. There was also this guy on VFDC forum "001" who used to padhack VSHG, but since this winter he stopped doing it...
I was just trying to be helpfull as I found it really confusing/complicated picking a Joystick as there was so many conflicting opinions and all the facts were very vague, I read pages and pages of posts and reviews and finally bought the VSHG and as I said above was very, very pleased with it. So was trying to pass this on but it looks like it was pointless lol as its not out the box compatible with the 360.

When I said "complicated isn't it" it was directed toward Ed Oscuro sarcastic post.
It can easily become 360 compatible if... you know how to solder and have the appropriate equipment. I do not have the proper equipment and I am not even sure that if I had the equipment in question I would still be able to solder all the stuff properly.
I wasn't being sarcastic. Electronics is one of those areas I'm no good at
Also, I need something that's USB compatible and in a package (like those you posted, thanks!) because I like to carry around my shmupping equipment. It was suggested to me earlier to build something into a small cabinet, but for that reason it wouldn't work.
Not to get back into this but serious...i wouldn't worry so much about the input thing. It must be a bad batch or something. Like I said previously, I have two for about a year now and there are no issues even after lots of frequent use. Additionally, Shun and Akira are my main chars in VF so I make frequent 3 button + direction inputs and never miss (unless it's my own mistake). Everyone I know that has one hasn't had issue either (and they are / I am indeed picky when it comes to fighter / sticks)
I wouldn't sweat it too much...just get it. You will be glad you did. Worse case scenario is you get one with the "button problem" and have to exchange it. You could get a defective unit no matter what stick you purchase so...
As a side note, I mentioned it probably has something to do with GGPO or the similar. My wording was a bit off there. What I mean is that it seemed that may have been a common denominator on those having issue as quite a few that complained mentioned GGPO while the people who had no issue often claimed to not be using ggpo or the similar. Just something to think about. If it's factual, who knows.
Another side note, I would even take this stick over most custom sticks (as I've had many of those that were shit compared to the VSHG)

Oh sorry, I thought you were somehow parodying my posts due to the fact that I was getting this thread slightly off topic.

No there a good thing, production of the VSHG is going back and that means that play-asia will have the new batch in stock (since they already sold all the ones they had), we just have to wait now. Are they easy to mod unlike the Hori EX 2's?
In terms of modding it to work on 360, i don't know. I've not done it yet (unfortunately...hopefully soon). If you mean swapping out parts and such, yes, it's super easy. No soldering or anything, just like an arcade cabinet. Make sure your parts are (at minimum) of the quality of the included parts though or your efforts will be useless.
BTW: if you can find it (over at VFDC)....poster LAAkira made a cabinet using VSHG's. He posted some pics way back. Definitely worth seeing if you feel like digging it up.

Just had the sound bug, where the music cuts out, or starts over, or the wrong music begins to play in the middle of a level, etc. None of the games have hung on me yet, thankfully.
The achievements are... well, most are even more worthless than they usually are. it's only the ones relating to hitting a certain score that are reflective of player skill - all the completion ones (Normal Mode, Expert Mode *and* Boss Rush) can be gained by playing at 'practice' difficulty, where the enemies don't actually fire at you. Disappointing, really.
You can unlock everything in the Raiden 3 port by playing on the practice difficulty.
so long and tanks for all the spacefish unban shw <Megalixir> now that i know garegga is faggot central i can disregard it entirely
<Megalixir> i'm stuck in a hobby with gays
Ah, I wasn't quite right there, anyway. Expert Mode on practice difficulty *does* allow the enemy to fire at you - at about the same rate as in Normal Mode on normal diff, I think - and also gives them suicide bullets whenever you take them out. So it's still pretty easy, but not 'finish it with your eyes closed' easy.
I discovered another bug. In RF2, some of the ships (the ones that dive at you in pairs) will fly at you backwards. As in, they attack you tail end first, instead of normally attacking you. It doesn't always happen however.
I really want to like this compilation of games, but the bugs are pushing me away. So far, this is what I've experienced:
- Game has frozen and I've been forced to shut off my 360, 6 times.
- Sound has messed up in the game, 4 times.
- Choosing a replay has frozen the game, 1 time.
- Planes appear messed up, 1 time.
This game was worth the import price, but it's only fully justified if they come out with a patch for the game. I quite like the achievements (I need an excuse to get my gamerscore up) so I might work at those for a bit. But yeah, the bugs are annoying.
