Have you checked this one out? It's definitely great.

Thanks, will check it out.
MY TURP-EN-TINE
Reminds me, I found a scratched up Black Album in my room today. It surprisingly worked and I had a good laugh with it before going tossing it in the trash and going back to Ruins. Can't remember the biggest laugh, but it might've been the second "couldn't be much more from the heart".

Irreversible OST - By Daft Punk's Michelle Batangas. Pretty much the opposite of Daft Punk in many ways: Horrible, distorted 1970's rape movie synths coupled with ultra repetitive compressed bass and kick drums. Absolutely fucking awesome.
All about Lily Chou-Chou OST - Like Bjork mixed with Cocteau Twins, with extra glassy production. Beautiful.
Gallhammer - Dawn of Gallhammer - trying to work out if i prefer the demos on this or the album proper. This is amazing though.

Electric Wizard - Witchcult Today
I have a parody of St Anger era Metallica I'll have to upload since I can't find the original source of it.

Funny you should mention this, I found it and an old Megadeth album the other day. Hard to believe I used to listen to this stuff not only willingly but with enthusiasmJoshF wrote:MY TURP-EN-TINE

Haha, the search goes on.Nothing on the black album compares to FRANTIC-TIC-TIC-TIC or my lifestyle determines my death-style. There is no need for parody.
I think I was laughing at the riffs more than the lyrics. I lost control at the intro to Sad But True where the boys nudge dangerously close to Infectious Grooves.
Enema Syringe - Live at No Fun Fest 2007: The worst noise album I've ever heard.
Faye Wong - Everything - Makes my study sound like a Chinese dentist's waiting room. Needs less saxaphone.
Foals - Antidotes - I have decided I don't like Foals after all.
Au Revoir Simone - The Bird of Music - Would have been amazing had it not been so fucking middle class.

From the good old days of Victory Records.

Really? I find it languid and uninspired. Basically lazy. If you're craving some indie pop goodness, I'd suggest the following insteadNeon wrote:I like the new Breeders
versus - the stars are insane
My take on Carcass' five albums:
Reek < Symphonies < Necroticism > Heartwork > Swansong
Actually, I haven't heard Swansong, but I don't even want to hear it.
Best album of 2008 so far:
origin - antithesis
Thanks to unsane and Rob for pointing that one out.
Also working on:
east/west blast test - s/t
and a bunch of other stuff.

agoraphobic nosebleed - pcp tornado
sweet - greatest hits
love like blood - irony of fate

man or astro man? - project infinity
catharsis - passion
much much else

Lazy? I dunno, it seems like a lot went into the production if not the songwriting. There's a lot of overdub/multitracky stuff. My favorite is 'bang on' (I get the feeling it was meant as a joke, but that sort of adds to it)
Also listened to Los Campesinos! - hold on now, youngster... I think they have too many friends. What sounds good, especially when you write collaboratively, doesn't necessarily make a good song. Really only so so at best, but I like the energy
edit - this Versus album is much better though, yeah.

The song I like a lot is Night of Joy. If you like it too, then you should check out the band Broadcast (if you haven't). Same idea exactly.Neon wrote:Lazy? Just got an order from Southern Lord
Toadliquor (love that name) - The Hortator's Lament
Orthodox - Amanecer en Puerta Oscura
Burning Witch - Crippled Lucifer reissue (Now I can put my Bad Acid original away)

One thing I've noticed about Nirvana - Nevermind, AC/DC - Back in Black, and Never Mind the Bollocks is that I like everything except most of the singles
I dunno why this is, I guess because I've been listening to them since middle school and you hear the singles more, on the radio and etc.
Has anyone experienced similar phenomena
Also is hardcore huge in any other part of the country, or just here. It's got a certain amount of appeal for musicians just because it doesn't require talent or skill to pull off, but I think it's also a backlash against all the groups who can't wait to sell out, like their band is a small business or something. I kinda wish there were no chance of anyone becoming rich and famous, so that people would focus on rocking face rather than having broad appeal

With Nevermind I think it's more that the singles aren't that good. No other way to explain that because I feel the same way. I still like old Soundgarden and AIC singles (best parts of their albums).Neon wrote: I dunno why this is, I guess because I've been listening to them since middle school and you hear the singles more, on the radio and etc.

some of favorite bands have risen out of this scene, and i've never had the opportunity to see them live, or really any band that belongs.
I have no sig whatsoever.

Ultramega fail. There stuff up until Inhaler (which I only listened to once) is pretty cool, so, you're wrong.I hate Tad too.
PAK - Motel
This is on the way...
Lobe Low - I Am In Your House Pooping On The Child
Best described as a mix between Waking the Cadaver and Naked Brothers Band.
