Golf games you like?

Post by dave4shmups »

I checked out Tiger Woods '08 Wii port, and it's great! (Although I'd like to smack that caddy!)

Great Golf for the Master System is one I like as well. Zany Golf is awesome, but-and someone please correct me if I'm wrong-it won't work on a Genesis Model 2-only a Model 1.

I suppose Wii Sports Golf is my favorite-for now, anyways. I'm really looking forward to playing Neo Turf Masters! :P

So, what are some Golf games that you all like?

I like Mario Golf N64, GBC, and GBA, Hot Shots Golf PSX, NES Open, Nintendo's GB Golf, Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf, the Atari 2600 Golf, the Super Monkey Ball golf mini Game, the golf mini game in Wario Land 3 GBC, and Chip Shot Super Pro Golf Intellivsion. I want to play Neo Turf Masters (arcade and NGPC).
Zany Golf is awesome, but-and someone please correct me if I'm wrong-it won't work on a Genesis Model 2-only a Model 1.
If you play it by itself, it will only work on the earlier model 1s with "high definition graphics" written on the system and without the brief "this game is manufactured under license from SEGA" screen. A "high definition graphics" Genesis doesn't guarantee that it will work since some of those still have the aforementioned splash screen. However, it can be played with a Game Genie on any Genesis aside from the model 3.

Hot Shots Golf for PSX.

Normally I don't like golf games, but this one is rather enjoyable.

Neo Turfmasters is really all you need. But if you want to venture into the realm of minigolf, Zany Golf is indeed a good game -- if you play the Amiga version. The Genesis version is still playable, but comparatively it is very choppy. I have also had a good bit of fun with Sierra's '3D Ultra Minigolf' (the original one) on the PC.

Neo Turf Masters is the way to go. SNK Playmore needs to get a sequel to this in their lineup of Taito Type X2 titles and eventually onto PS3/360.

Apart from the old classics such as microprose golf on the amiga (top notch), I'd surely say that Pangya on PC (and probably on Wii as well?) is bloody fun and I've played it a lot without getting tired.
Alas, Ikaruga is going...

Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?

Big tournament golf (aka Neo turfmasters)!

As for portable golf, I'm gonna have to say Big tournament golf on the NGPC.

That game is awesome! More Shinobi (although much easier) then golf, though definitely worth getting if you have a 7800.

This game is absolutely amazing and I still like it much more than any golf game since. You could create your own courses, which was awesome, and they had different modes like skins, match play, etc.

I personally can't see the appeal of ultra realistic like golf games...

Stuff like Mario Golf on the Gamecube, Tee Off (Dreamcast) have provided me with enough entertainment to recommend those (tee off only if you can get it cheap).

And though strictly speaking not "GOLF", I like Zany Golf (miniature) on the Amiga as well. (though I doubt you wanted to know about that). ;)

Minigolf is the only golf. Fuck 3d. Zany Golf! Now that's a classic.

I decided to give 3d-golf a new chance, and got the full version of Everybody's Golf World Tour for the PS3 and even though the graphics are nice, the music is great and all the game just doesn't cut it. It's not interesting or fun at all. There are just too many things to learn and consider, and no real reward for any of it. Originally I played the demo only because I needed to learn about golf for a work project. And yeah, the obligatory 4+ GB installation sucks big time, I really hope this isn't becoming more common, the last three games I got (DMC4, GT5 Prologue and EGWT) all require installation...

I used to play quite a bit of golf IRL, but havent been to the links in a dogs age.

Last golf game I really enjoyed was True Swing Golf on DS. I got the demo from a download station and didnt shut off my DS for a week, seriously beat the hell out of every realistic non-Hotshots-type golf game I have ever played.

My favorite golf game?
Hmm. Probably Arnold Palmer Golf (Sega Genesis circa 1989).
Has realistic visuals and addictive gameplay.
In fact, I learned how to play golf directly as a result of this game.

I like the Masters, the British Open, and US Open-- in that order. Or are you asking about videogames? In that case: none.

Of all the golf games I've played, I'd say I probably spent the most time on Links LS 2000. I'd love to see a WiiSports Golf with more than nine holes (preferably 3-4 full 18-hole courses and a full bag of clubs.) SuperSwing Golf on the Wii is OK as a golf game, but the computer cheats like crazy on match play (it says something when your opponent on the third match is beating you with 50-yard chip-ins for eagle.
