Hello all, I figured this would be the right place to ask this question. I'm going on vacation near/in San Francisco. I would be grateful if you could help me plan some spots to check out: the arcades. If anyone knows of some specific arcades that pack a lot of great shooters please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
Any good arcades in San Francisco, South Bay Area?

Not sure about the city itself, but if you ever get up to San Rafael (about 15 miles north of SF) be sure to check out 'Starbase One' on 4th St. It's a small arcade, but it focuses mostly on older games and always has some good shmups in rotation. For example, last time I was in there they had R-Type, Raiden Fighters, Strikers 1945 Plus and Carrier Airwing. And Metal Slug 6 installed on the Neo Geo alongside Strikers. (There's also 'Taqueria Mexican Grill' on Sir Francis Drake Blvd which is a short drive from Starbase One, and very recently they had both Raiden II and Blazing Star. Food's good too.)

Thanks for the assistance spadgy. I'm sort of surprised there isn't more around the San Francisco area-- sounds like the arcades in the Universities are the best bet. Makes sense though, I know at University at Buffalo (here in NY) they have a Strikers 1945 cab, Metal Slug 3, SNK vs. Capcom 2, Marvel vs. Capcom and a few other awesome games.
So, thanks for all the help.
