Japanese Xbox 360 question

Post by Talon »

I am about to purchase a Japanese XBOX 360 and I wanted to know if I was able to use a US hard drive on the Japanese console, because I already own a US 360. This would of course make it easier and cheaper for me if I could ^^;. Does anybody know :?: . Thanks :D .

It's basically like this:

If you're currently using a gamertag:

You can use it on a Japanese Xbox 360, and play all your official and XBLA games on it.

If you create a new gamertag with the Japanese 360 console:

You can only play games which you've purchased via the new account, because the XBLA games on your original account won't be accessible.

My PAL HDD works on my Japanese 360 without any issues whatsoever. I should say that there's no way to access themes between accounts either, they're account-specific too.

Thanks that's good to know. I appreciate all this help ^^;. Here's another question. Would I be able to play JP games on my US account? Actually to be more specific would it add the JP games to my played list along with the gamerscore? It doesn't matter to me all that much because I guess I would have to make a JP account to access the JP marketplace but it would be nice to know :D . Thanks.

It's the CD that comes with HD adapter to transfer stuff from 20GB HD to the 120GB HD that is region locked.

It's better just to stick to a single account. Some things work across accounts and other things don't.

The only problem with sticking to one account is that I won't be able to access the JP XBOX marketplace from what I've heard. I suppose it's not that big of a deal, but I would like to d/l some extra content for a few games that I just bought and am going to buy in the future.

I have another question...

Would I be able to download a theme off of the JP marketplace and use it on my US account? I've been reading that to use it people have to load their JP account and then log off and load up their US account or something along those lines. If anybody knows or can find out please let me know. Thanks ^^;

Also, I'm told that you can't access the Japanese XBLA marketplace outside of Japan period.

Things you purchase are tied to TWO things:

Your gamertag, and your Xbox UNIT [not hard drive]

So, if you purchased REZ under your GamertagUS on your US CONSOLE, any gamer logged into that console could play REZ.

Now, if you took that hard drive out of your US console, and moved it into your Japanese console, you could STILL play the game as LONG AS YOU'RE LOGGED INTO XBOX LIVE UNDER THE ACCOUNT THAT PURCHASED THE GAME.

If, for instance, your internet access went down in the middle of playing the game, you would be kicked out of the game. When you tried to play it again, you'd notice the game was LOCKED/Trial Version Only. Whenever you got back onto Live, the game would UNLOCK again.

These rules apply to every microtransaction on Live

Yeah you can. I created a JP account to download the Raiden Compilation demo off live. Every Gamertag on my xbox has access to the demo

If the theme costs money, you would need to add a credit card to your Japanese account. Apparently you can just fake your home address to somewhere in Japan and it will work. Or you could just buy point cards from YesAsia.

Thanks I appreciate all the info on this. I've found out a lot since I've had my JP 360. I have created a JP account and have downloaded multiple demo's and add ons to my games and they have all worked for multiple accounts. I have also found out that if for some reason you have a problem accessing a theme that was originally downloaded on another account you can go to the hard drive option on the dashboard and copy the theme to that account and you'll be able to access it for use. Hope this helps others as well. :D
