Any gameplay tips for Metal Arms: Glitch in the System??...

Post by dave4shmups »

I traded one of my PS2 games for this one on Gametz, and already I am finding it more frustrating then fun.

The game instruction manual tells you to just take on one robot at a time; however, I am finding this impossible, as once you shoot one robot, any others in the area are quickly alerted to your presence, and then you find yourself swamped. And swamped, in my case, at a point in the second level where you only have two main weapons.

Another thing that I find frustrating is the fact that there are simply NO mission objectives that you are given, and NO maps of the different stages of this game.

So, if anyone can offer some helpfull advice, please do so; otherwise I'd rather trade this one as well.

Oh man, I loved that game. I had it on Gamecube, which is essentially the same as the PS2 version (whereas the Xbox version looks a hell of a lot nicer) and had a blast, though the junkyard boss was a complete fucking asshat (talked to a developer of the game and found out why that was...interesting story behind it).

Can't remember any specific gameplay hints off the top of my head...that game was tough as nails but I had a blast playing through it. Probably the one big drawback was that it was just too hard for most people. Multiplayer was a blast.

Thank god the developers (Swinging Ape Studios) are working on Starcraft Ghost...it gives me a lot of hope for the game

Awesome game. It does get a little bit tough, but there are some strategies that will help keep you alive that simply take time to master.

First of all, you need to keep in mind where you are positioned. Being out in the open without a powerful weapon is usually a very bad thing. Enemies usually stay in their area, if you can try to find a point where you can lure one or two at a time out of their area and take them on that way. In other words, take it slow, running into groups of enemies will get you killed more often than not.

Early in the game your firepower is, well, weak. You need to know your arsenal and how to use it. Core charges rock, they are one of the most powerful weapons throughout the entire course of the game. Problem: they can also damage you, a lot, be sure you know how and when to use them properly. One of the first weapons you receive is one that cuts wires, it seems weak, but it's power lies in the non lethal damage it can inflict, use it to sever the arms of grunts. It's extremely useful in this regard. It's a bit slow in the beginning so reloading may become a hassle, but you can also disable grunts with your melee attack. It might sound stupid, but when your initial weapons are so weak it's often better to disable your opponents before taking them out.

A lot of this game is trial and error. Basically in many parts you'll have to adjust to the different situations you're placed in. If you have trouble with specific areas I might be able to help in that regard.

OK thanks for the advice guys, but I was able to trade this game. It was just not fun for me, so I'm sure I made the right decision. But again, thanks for the advice! :D
