Far out question : Xbox 360 controller vs. MAME32+ .104

Post by captain ahar »

grrr...

i've tried newer versions of MAME, and while i can get the HORI Fighting Stick EX2 to work, most games (particularly shooters) run at around 50% speed. turning off sound makes no difference.

thing is on the same computer, using MAME32+ .104 i can run it at full speed... but it won't recognize the controller.

i tried using Joy2Key, but the only things that work are the buttons and not the joystick.

can anyone maybe help? i'm on vacation and really want to play dodonpachi...

and i know this post is dealing predominately in minutiae, so no need to point it out please.
I have no sig whatsoever.

With Joy2Key, have you enabled the "Use hat as axis" or whatever option? Also, I assume you've enabled joysticks in Mame32+?

i don't see any kind of option, for "use hat as axis".

after some fiddling though, all the controls work... except moving forward.

edit:

fixed. the problem was i'm retarded, and the internal controls in mame were not set up properly. and the setting i needed to enable input apparently is "POV switches." as soon i checked that option it was pretty much gravy.

i'd like to thank the academy, and all my colleagues.
now to get to learning how to play with a stick...
I have no sig whatsoever.
