Best PS1 2D graphics in RGB

Post by antron »

Which PS1 capable system has the best PS1 2D graphics in RGB?

PS1
PSone
PS2
PS3 (does it have RGB? 240p?)

Any particular models better than others?

I can't make out a difference between PS1, PSOne and PS2 (and PS2slim), given that you use a good RGB cable like the official Sony one (which uses a seperate Sync line instead of Composite video for sync).

Best graphics for ps1 games?
ps3, but you have to use HDMI. And it will give a much better picture than rgb. That is on a hdtv.
ps3 has rgb, but I don't recommend using a ps3 for rgb, because it will output 480i rgb.
so if you have a rgb only tv, use ps1 or ps2
if you have a hdmi capable hd tv, use a ps3
I am almost 100% sure about these stated facts.

true low res with rgb via a PS1 or PS2 looks best. PS3 is ok for 3D games but it gonna get scaled on a HDTV either by the PS3 or the HDTV...

if it's 2D and you have a RGB low res monitor by all means use it with a RGB cable and a PS1 or 2.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

So does a ps2 output 240p for ps1 games?
I was told that this is always 480i

240p for most (all that I have tried so far)

I do want to say that if you are using an arcade monitor, and you are wanting to just play PS1 titles, go with a real PS1. The PS1 RGB levels are much closer to a PCB than a PS2. Even more so than a Saturn. PS2 is almost unusable with my Nanao (without amplification).
