So I've got a GP2X I bought purely for homebrew, as I was a bit of an emulation snob. Anyway, I've decided I might give emulation a try after being shown the light, but I'm a reasonable newbie. I understand Roms and Emulators and all that, and have got them working before out of curiosity, but wondered this. Is there a reliable CPS2 emulator for the GP2X? I have the Progear PCB, but would love to practice on the move.
Can the GP2X even handle such games?
Any other recommends for good shmup Rom and emulator combinations for the GP2X? I think I have al the emulators for more typical consoles like genisis and SNES and so on, so I'm more interested in Wonderswan, arcade, PC Engine etc.
I'm not after a list of good shmups as I have a fair knowledge of that and own far too many. I'm just looking for ones that run well on the GP2X. If that's all of them, then do just say!
And thank you!
GP2X and shmemulation?
Can't remember off-hand what shmups are supported, but there's a fair few arcade emulators for the '2X.
FBA2X - FinalBurn Alpha; CPS1, CPS2 and NeoGeo
CPS2emu; uhh, needs no explanation
GNGeo2x; NeoGeo
And then there's of course MAMEGP2x. Mostly supports older games (NeoGeo and earlier).
Oh, and PC-Engine just got a new emulator yesterday, Exophase's rather brilliant Temper (HuCard only at the moment).
Check the GP32X file archive for up-to-date downloads.

my understanding is that gp2x is roughly on par with PSP as far as emulation, and i know that PSP rocks...
check here for more emulators and homebrew info

i think possibly the only thing that gp2x doesn't have that psp does, is a fullspeed gba emulator. other than that, i know that gp2x MAME is way better

So you don't need to run those emulate rs through the GP2X MAME emulator?nem wrote:There's a compatibility list for FBA2X here. Note that CPS2 and NeoGeo games should play better on their own respective emulators.
Or rather, they are standalone emulators?
