Is your collection insured? I've been thinking about this, to protect it from theft and accidental damage etc - but I have no-idea who to approach for this sort of thing, or how to prove the value for some of it?
I'm curious to know if anyone (especially in the UK) has gone ahead and had their stuff valued and insured, and with whom?
p.s. what's your address, and when are you not likely to be at home?
(serious answer: talk to your bank about it )
Lolz - punk!
I always thought home insurance wasn't comprehensive for insuring your games collection?
How the hell do they know what a copy of a twelve year old, Japanese saturn game (with a spinecard!) is worth?
I actually attempted this very thing, and was told by the insurance company that only the media would be insured, and by that, only blank CDs would be furnished. I was told that the actual software licenses would be replaced by the company who provided the software.
I've been thinking about this too, and thought renters or home insurance should cover hobby items like this as long as they are cataloged/documented with puchase costs (and current fair market value?)
Exactly as I thought. But maybe there's a serious insurance company who deal with specific rarities (like antiques) who could offer a more serious setup?
I was under the impression that home owner's insurance would cover it as long as you had receipts and video footage of you going through your house and pointing out all of the expensive stuff. I know a lot of people who have such videos kept in a safe or safety deposit box along with their other important documents.
