Great news, but it's lame how the article calls the GCN version a copy and paste job. The GCN version has a ton of extras like an original mode with regular enemies.

Yes! I can't freaking wait. Time to dust off that Hori pad and organize a rave.

Well I'll be jiggered. Importing is always the best route but the more U.S. ports the better, shows there is still at least some interest over here. Glad I have a hori pad now.

Good news to the shmups fans. My only deal is that it's Gamecube only.

Well of course, I mean were you expecting the DC version to be released over here?

Well, I'll be damned. I may have to buy Chaos Field this time around. Knowing how US shmup releases go, it'll probably only cost 20 or 30 bucks.

Wow! Great for US shmup fans, great for MileStone (sort of?)!

"Ikaruga-inspired," hmm? 8)

Anyone know anything about this "Q-3"? I can't say that I find the name terribly familiar...

Agreed, I hope someone e-mails Matt and let's him know this, he's usually pretty good about correcting mistakes like this.

And no point in importing the DC version anymore, I want them extra features, dagnabbit.

My plan of action now is to pick up the US GC version when it comes out, and if I like it as much as I think I will, I'll probably get the DC version too simply for the VGA output. Although, the graphics in Chaos Field aren't exaclty out of this world, so maybe I'll refrain. We'll see how it goes. Never the less, I'm totally pumped about this port. I NEED A RELEASE DATE!!!

What are the other extras?

And do the random enemies appear with the boss, or do you fight them seperately before you reach the boss?

.............. :?
Q-3 reffers to Third Quarter. . .which reffers to 3rd quarter of the year.
Which is approximately near the end of the Summer Cycle in the Northern Hemisphere.

I'll definitely have to pick this up now. I've needed to catch up a bit on the DC shmup releases (Still need to grab this, Shiki 2 and Trizeal) but I'll definitely have to grab this when it's out.

I'll do my best to try to get my grubby paws on a copy as well.

It's good that I have a Hori pad, but of course better that I have PS2->GCN controller convertors and PS1 arcade sticks :p

Is the US version going to have some extras over the JP version, aside from the translated text?

@ Dartagnan1083 :
Q-3 is apparently the name of the US publisher, not the release date estimate.

Alien Hominid was published by O-3 Entertainment, not sure if it's a different publisher for this one or if there was just a typo in the article.

Yeah, it's a Silvergun avatar, but the black and white makes it a nice blend between Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga, reflecting the fact that there's some common ground. I can't remember where I got it from but I thought it was very appropriate. Maybe Kiken's site?

The only thing thats bad for the genre is people constanly being elitest towards Cave software and not giving anything else developed a chance.

I kinda feel the same way (though Shiki 2 is much better than Chaos Field), but don't forget that they did bring over Gradius 5 and we'll probably see Raiden 3 as well.

Really, other than new Cave games, the only excitement of late has been Psikyo reissues and Trizeal, neither of which stand much of a chance of getting released here, and then they'd be without tate anyway (although somehow shiki2 got tate!!)

As things stand, I'd almost rather import anyway than have to take my chances with a butchered domestic version.

Any shooter coming to the U.S. is good news nowadays. Remember the late 80's/early 90's? There were practically too many shooters. Now I drool at the mere prospect of a shmup coming stateside. Hell, I even bought Mobile Light Force 1 & 2. How pathetic is that??

The impetus is on us to buy this game - no matter how average it is. Money talks. We need to tell these companies that there is still a domsetic market for smups. Besides, it probably won't cost more than 30 bucks. Evan at $50.00 it would still be a bit of a bargain compared to the imported DC version.
