And I thought i'm only one who sees shmup scenes in clouds.

BTW: The thing behind it is that yellow box carrier from J'n'G.

Naw, its more metaphorical... HE is mother brain and this is the earth in the eyes of mother brain. Obviously it is kind of paranoid and sees enemies like Vic Viper even in clouds.

Interesting things people do when they live in the middle of fucking nowhere.

It's Vic Vampire! Special ability: turns into a cloud.

How come there aren't 8 million houses all 3 feet from each other that all look the same when you look out your window?

Depending on earth forming an alliance with Latis or not...
If Latis chose our side it would be Laydock vs Vic Viper All the way.

The Laydock ship is more able than the Vic Viper. Though you would have to be careful against their lasers anyway.

If we'd have a treaty with Latis lord british wouyld be on our side as well.
Lord British would be more than capable in fending of VV from even getting to laydock's ship... :D

We ought to make this into a sort of shmup version of "Magic he Gathering" with playing cards with stats for all sorts of shmup icons... could be fun (though nerdy...)

Seconded. Would be the best thing ever.

Sort of like a Capcom vs SNK for the shmups universe eh...

I've talked with Akira once about doing this... I don't know if you were around when Postman made a review of a fake game called "Polygenesis" which was basically a Capcom vs SNK for the shmups universe .. hehe. We had talked about actually doing a game from that, but then we never actually went ahead.

Most shmup ships do not have dodgeable shots .. they are designed to fry legions of aliens/bugs/battleships, etc. Their shots move across the entire screen almost instantly. Plus they mostly die in one hit. Those would be some short rounds .. :O

It would be more interesting if the ships attacks were modified to be actually dodgeable, so both players would keep dodging until the other one messed up and died.

Even then, most shmup ships only have 1-2 attacks .. wouldn't be too exciting. You'd have to come up with some original attack patterns for each of the ships. And let the players combine them in interesting ways, otherwise there would be no real strategy.

blah blah rambling :P

That was the idea. And ships actually have more like 4 or more attacks, if you pick the right ones. ANd there would be energy bars probably.

We never discussed that very deeply though :) I personally do have some ideas on how to do it.

There was also a shitty one-on-one mode in R-Type Final.

[quote="Ruldra"]You guys are pretty much describing Senko no Ronde.[/quote

Yeah, when I saw Senko no Ronde for the 1st time, the first thing that crossed my mind was Polygenesis.

Except that Senko no Ronde has no Vic Viper o R-9 as selectable ships :D
