Sad fact:

I can no longer play as Specineff in VOOT. Every time I try to my game freezes up.

I don't play VOOT that much anymore because of that. Specineff is the shit.

And REZ.

I love my DC, but the thing with this kind of "gadget" worship is it's human nature. Why do people love their Macs? I'm sure there are lots of reasons people love the Dreamcast, and valid arguments why they shouldn't - thing is love is not logical :)

I can think of some reasons I love it. I have games on it I enjoy playing, so my experiences are great. Plus, it's got the benefit of ~compatibility with Naomi boards so porting is easier.

The DC was also home to two truly innovative racing games named F355 and Test Drive: Le Mans. These games heralded other innovative racing games like the Moto GP(xbox) series and Forza.

All this happened while the playstations had to wallow in the craptactular rehashes that have become the Gran Turismo series.

GT series sucked but so does LE Mans. I have that horrible game. Good thing I ony got it for 9$

SEGA should have made Scud Race & Daytona USA 2 for DC.

King of fighters 98 (Arguably the best in the series)
King of fighters 99 evolution
King of Fighters 00 - 02
Bangai-O (One of the most addictive 2D platform shooters to come out recent.)
Border Down (Speaks for itself)
Power stone
Power stone 2
Garou mark of the wolves (Arguably the best in the series)
Marvel vs Capcom
Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Arguably the best in the series)
SNK vs Capcom 2 (Best in this series)
Ikaruga (Speaks for itself)
Skies of Arcadia
Soul calibur (Arguably still the best 3D fighting game ever.)
Super Robot Taisen Alpha
Guilty Gear
Street fighter 3 third strike (Arguably the best in the series)
Shenmue
Shenmue 2
Resident Evil code veronica (Speaks for itself)

I haven't even finished the list yet, quite a few of these games are seen as the best in their respective series, and the others are seen as quality games within themselves. How can the DC not be great, this alone is enough reason.

Is tech romancer worth buying just out of curiosity? don't own it but could get for a few pounds from a mate.

Techromancer, yet another game I didn't add to my list.

If you like streetfighter style mech fighters with story, then yes get it definatly. The anime intros and soundtrack is well cool, and the gameplay is pretty tight. Alot of varied characters to choose from, and it's a pretty nice looking game. Easily more accessible than say, Virtual On, although I like Virtual on better.

Remember Cyberbots for the Saturn? This is similar but in 3D instead of 2D, and it's more suped up. It goes for well cheap nowadays, you can't lose man especially if your friend is selling it to you cheap.

P.S. I'm not a fanatic of any console (although the 16-bit era has a special place because it was in my childhood).
All I'm saying is that the Dreamcast has and continues to kick some serious ass. 8)

DC was always over rated.
I don't think it always was. It had Gunbird 2 and SF3 as exclusives, was basically the best 2d fighter system ever when you looked at the lineup, had the best of Saturn (SSF2T, Vampire Chronicles, Alpha 3) plus exclusives like 3rd strike.

I agree exactly.

Couldn't have said it better meself. The DC is home to not just many good titles, but many stellar ones. Many of the best games I have ever played were for the DC. Here are some of my favorites:

- Street Fighter Alpha 3 Saikyo Dojo
- Vampire Chronicle
- Street Fighter III - 2nd Impact: Giant Attack
- Capcom VS SNK Pro
- Power Stone 2
- Resident Evil - Code: Veronica
- Giga Wing 2
- Mars Matrix
- KOF '99 Dream Match
- KOF '99 Evolution
- Project Justice
- Psychic Force 2012
- Virtual On
- Shenmue
- Tech Romancer
- Quake III
- Cannon Spike
- Spawn
- Gundam DX
- Shikigami No Shiro II
- Guilty Gear X

And more (along with some mentioned in earlier posts)...

CMoon wrote:In truth, exclusive titles boil down to the amazing Border Down, Zero Gunner 2, the Gigawings & Mars Matrix, Trizeal and perhaps Bangai-O if you count it (perhaps even Cannon Spike).
Bangai-O was originally N64, btw.

I like the DC for it's faithful NAOMI ports:

M vs C 2
Canon Spike
Zero Gunner
Ikaruga
Crazy Taxi 2
GigaWing 2
...
Those are just ones I own and love :D. And yes, DC in VGA is sicknasty. I've compared side-by-side with my NAOMI set, running VGA, and they are identical.

Considering the official life span of the system (only less than 3 years), there were tremendous amout of quality games (covering every genre) released. I think this in itself is unprecedented in video game history.
