I haven't been there since 2006, but Monte50 in Umeda had a pretty good selection of shmups from this decade. Most of the other game centers I spent any amount of time in were pretty mainstream oriented (although Raiden III was just about everywhere).

So do you live here? How's your Japanese?

Maybe this wiki can help you. It's always out of date, though.

My current favorite place is conveniently located between Super Potato and Game Tanteidan in Den Den Town. It has a whole row of cave games, including Ketsui, ESPra.de. and Mushihimesama Futari (1.5 :-( )

Let's meet up and blow some shit up! It might be my bad luck (and gaijin accent), but every Japanese player I've tried to chat up in an arcade has been really antisocial.
