ps2 joysticks aren't region coded.

HRAP1 or 2 are the best stock sticks for the ps2. I lke the layout of the virtua stick better, personally, but the parts are lower quality.

Here read this thread: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=18435

After reading it I pretty much decided that i'll need to get an HRAP 2 if I ever want a good stick :)

I use this

works great on my ps2 and on mame with a ps2 to usb adapter. Udderdude's x-arcade stick works great too but I got my stick for way cheaper (except I got lucky)

Super Scope for shooters = Awesome. I've used a Dreamcast light gun to play Shikigami no Shiro 2 when I was desperate actually :(

I've tried the Hori HRAP 2 and the Virtua Stick (as well as a couple cheapy crap joysticks not worth mentioning), and between the two of them, I prefer the Virtua Stick. The Virtua Stick's joint seems to have a bit more resistance, and the Hori, while good, just felt a little too loose for my taste.

I didn't notice a difference between the buttons on them, other than I really like the layout of the Virtua Stick.

Also had the displeasure of using the X-Arcade stick a few times... I'd say avoid that one - absolute rubbish.
You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.
