Humor, the (noun): a: that quality which appeals to a sense of the ludicrous or absurdly incongruous b: the mental faculty of discovering, expressing, or appreciating the ludicrous or absurdly incongruous c: something that is or is designed to be comical or amusingjpolz wrote:Asking to port to a whole new platform/architecture is just slightly more involved than asking them to set a region flag as "00" instead of "01".Ceph wrote:Wait, you forgot to ask for a PS3 port!
Let's just ask for it to be region free and leave it at that.

why is everyone so against a NTSC-J 360? I have one and have only encountered one game I cared about US wise that has been locked... almost all US titles are region free.
I wish I had though of it earlier.... I would have liked to add a request for a fake scan line option in those ports in the petition.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Hardware aside (which can easily get the job done) the only thing holding back a fucked up port will be the developers. I know if all the bells and whistles are there in good form some of the PCB owners will be coming out for peek for sure with a cautious eye. Throw in an arrange or some exclusive content with tate to boot and all hell will break loose. I dont think Cave could allow anyone to screw up a flagship title like a couple were on Ps2. To much at stake here considering the hype they know this title will generate (at least overseas)

Considering CAVE were the ones who screwed up the Mushi and Ibara ports, I doubt they are going to be proactive about trying to get another developer to meet any quality standards. They don't even care about developing a quality console product themselves.lawnspic wrote:I dont think Cave could allow anyone to screw up a flagship title like a couple were on Ps2. T

You got a point there, forgot they botched those themselves not Arika. When they make arcade games with such detail and quality how the hell do they live with themselves when they fucked up those two titles. With limited PCB runs i would assume the console market is a lot more lucrative. They need to control the quality to reach a broader audience for a dying genre when all everyone wants is the next God of War sequel.
Oh yeah, EOJ you mentioned they could care less about console port quality, then what was the "supposed" hangup with the ditched Ps2 port. Level five, since when did they give a shit?
Boy i hope my dream is not shattered here, and the old saying you get what you pay for applies here, or that 36" is gonna get vertical soon and my SG will get its first tate game at the tune of much mula. I need a taste of this game.

Exactly how many of the same people who are anticipating God Of War 3 care about filtering, scanlines, proper frame rate, and identical specific effects to the original version in a genre they wouldn't even consider playing because it lacks testosterone and asks more of the player than near-aimlessly running around and pressing X

You have to remember, they didn't take half a year off to make a port, but did it along with developing arcade products. Keep in mind that Cave are not familiar with the hardware, either.lawnspic wrote:You got a point there, forgot they botched those themselves not Arika. Also, do you think that an average gamer will even notice the issues with the port? Of course not. You have to have played the original in order to spot problems like lack of slowdown, so only the hardcore are taking notice of these issues.
EDIT: Ah, twids beat me to it.

Arika (specifically Ichiro Mihara) were the ones unhappy with the Ketsui PS2 quality, and refused to release it. CAVE actually gave them the go-ahead to release it "as is", but Arika are sticklers for quality, so it was canned.lawnspic wrote:
