You're gonna think I'm out of my mind, but Champion Edition is still one of my favorites. It fixes most of the complaints with World Warrior without inherently changing the game. All the tweaks which followed really should have been put into a NEW game.

By the way Neon, I've seen a LOT of people argue for Hyper Fighting, but to me this is the worst. I know it is apparently extremely well balanced, but I also feel like it was just a response to 'rainbow' edition and not always well executed.

Super Turbo is of course completely amazing, but it also has some new problems AND it plays SO different than world warrior that it shouldn't even be called an SF2 game.

I'm going with Super Turbo, as it added throw cancels and supers which made playing for competition a bit more fun for me. All the other versions are top notch, but ST is what I'd play more.

ST is probably the most refined of the bunch. More of everything really; supers really do add a lot to the game for some characters. Don't really like the fact that normal throws can be teched though.

Well, it's Super Turbo for me too.

Though in my mind, I always thought that "Super" was a new series in the Street Fighter world.

You left out an option: None

I've never played a version of SF2 that didn't get on my nerves.

Super Turbo here...I think Alpha 2 Gold is the best SF game going though.

Nothing there beats Hyper Fighting/Turbo, that's truly the best. 8)

I've gotta say Champion Edition. I spent a large portion of my youth playing this down my local arcade and though most of the updates look better, their game mechanics don't really add anything for me. I guess that in Street Fighter terms, i just like things simple.

My first SFII experience is still the greatest version of it, Champion Edition. I remember playing it at Putt Putt Golf so much, and then buying the Genesis version because my friend down the street owned it; good times, indeed.

I was really spoiled by it, because when I went to play the World Warrior, I was appalled by the lack of the four boss characters  Geez, the early 90s truly was the Golden Era of Gaming...

D'oh, why would anyone chose champ/hyper over ST, they're so broken. It's way too easy to dizzy on the older revisions, ST is just the same but more, with all the bullshit sorted out.

No contest, ST by MILES! :)

It's only easy to dizzy in TWW. Besides CE, the other SF games are all fairly well balanced although Sagat is top tier in every game.

This is where some smart ass replies 'your mom is broken'. The CPS1 SF2 games are very distinct from the cps2 'super' series (enough so to warrant the same distinction that the sf2 series has from alpha.)

*types a lengthy explanation of this three or four times*

No, the first answer was best:

your mom is broken
