Everybody have 250 bucks to get one and play the damn ketsui when its done.
Who gives a fuck about MS consoles having issues? You get it repaired if it happens.
Whats the fucking problem i mean. Its only a box with chips inside and it cOULD happen it breaks down, like a car, a microwave, a ps2 why not.
You seem to be phenominally naive, Microsoft only repair the 3 Red Ring error free of charge, I've had 4 360's fail in the space of just over 2 years and the fourth one failed with a video display problem which isn't redringed so I'm stuck without a console or will have to pay a rediculous repair fee for their shoddy hardware.
So yeah, Quite alot of people who are sick of the hardware currently give a fuck.

i really dont care. they should keep that hate for the MS call center.
I don't see what the post you linked to has to do with your claim that "everyone else likes the console". The part where you advised me to talk "about communism some more instead" is also somewhat idiosyncratic; apparently a recurrent theme in your posts.
So maybe you should go back to the alternate reality shmups forum in bizarro world where this makes sense. (You know, the forum where everyone except for me likes the well-built and reliable Xbox 360 and where I talk about communism all the time).

Way to miss the point, champ. Both you and stormwatch have a similar kneejerk reaction when the Xbox 360 and Dualshock (respectively) are discussed. "It's shit, durrr". We know, thanks.
It's pretty awesome when Bullet gets the point, and you don't.
PS. "apparently a recurrent theme in your posts", laff. Clutching at straws much?

The point is that so far all Japan-exclusives had region lockout. That means you'd need a Japanese 360 to play Ketsui and DOJ Black Label if they feature region lock out, which seems more than likely. Your local customer service will not fix a Japanese xbox 360 when it RRODs, which is also more than likely.
Get it now?
This is very much on topic: If the ports were coming to Wii or PS3, there wouldn't be a problem, because PS3 games don't have region coding and Wii isn't prone to breaking down (neither is PS3, for that matter).
kengou wrote:I still don't get why they're releasing on the 360. To make a few broad generalizations, American gamers don't want hardcore shmups like Ketsui or DOJ, and Japanese gamers don't own 360s.
It makes perfect sense to me that they'd release these on the console the Japanese care the least for. Gotta take the most elitist route possible!

I have a friend who bought a import 360 like me, It gave her the red ring, she called MS in the US and they took the serial number and repaired it for free. She told the operator to add a note in the report that it was a NTSC J console. She got in return a japan console, it was a different serial number so it was replaced with a different japan console.

one of the elitist routes possible would be that instead of porting it they would re-release the pcb as a "consumer edition". maybe with their logo and the games title dyed into the pcb so you can easily discern it from the green "professional arcade operators' edition".
so long and tanks for all the spacefish unban shw <Megalixir> now that i know garegga is faggot central i can disregard it entirely

I just called the Microsoft Xbox customer support: In Europe, Microsoft will NOT repair Japanese (or American) Xbox 360s. Only consoles purchased in Europe will be repaired.
Bullet wrote:cheaper than making a trip there isnt it?
But i am lucky, know some japanese guys
You paying for the additional costs certainly is cheaper
Is that offer only valid for me or for everyone here?
Alright then, for starters, would you mind paypal-ing me the amount needed for shipping/fees/customs? Please pm me about the details, like the contact info of those Japanese guys who'll buy it and ship it to me.
Uhh . . . from the very article you linked:
"Sony claimed that Lik-Sang infringed its trade marks, copyright and registered design rights by selling Sony PSP consoles"
I dont give a rats ass if sceEUROPE wants to make sure brits only get brit HARDWARE, especially if its region free. Last time I checked, I had no trouble at all buying import GAMES from any number of legit retailers (i.e. ones that dont also get sued on a regular basis by nintendo and, yes, microsoft, for selling modchips).
Besides which, sony could eat babies in their spare time, and it wouldnt change the fact that the 360 is unreliable or that region locking is anti-consumer.
Where can I buy a Japanese 360 for 250 USD?
Or used on ebay, where you will get no warranty protection.
Microsoft only repair the 3 Red Ring error free of charge
Can someone split this thread please and move all the console war MICRO$$$$$$$$$$$$$HAFT bullshit that ceph and cody love to propagate thanks

bcass wrote:Actually, Ketsui uses MOD Tracker format for it's music, so you'd probably be talking well under 150MB, even uncompressed.
Are you sure (how do you know)? And, if so, do you have any rips?
I'm 100% certain. When I purchased the Ketsui CD back when it was originally released, I had a Japanese friend translate the inlay notes, and it's mentioned in there. There are no rips yet because the ROMs have not yet been dumped.

Didn't someone give details earlier in the thread about how to change the region of a 360? Sure, it's a lot of hassle (but you only have to do it once), so why not just buy one of the later/more reliable models (from a US/EUR shop) then change the region yourself?
Ceph wrote:I just called the Microsoft Xbox customer support: In Europe, Microsoft will NOT repair Japanese (or American) Xbox 360s. Only consoles purchased in Europe will be repaired.
Who cares about Europe anyway ?. The important thing is that MS US customer center does it.
Well, some people posting in this thread live in Europe, so I'd imagine they might like to know... I've emailed Microsoft UK to see if their policy is any different.
Can we have some calming down in here please? Let's look at the facts.
1) They're coming to the 360.
2) There's nothing you can do about it.
I think that covers the important points. If you want to bitch and whine about reliability, then go start a bitching and whining thread about it. I've had five die on me so far. It's shitty but Microsoft fixed them. This does not excuse them breaking to begin with, that's how it is though. I also had a couple of PS2s die, one of my Saturns stopped reading discs, I had 1 PS1 do the same thing, and I'm on my second DS due to a screen problem. I even saw a PC Engine die once.
There are two main reasons that the 360 is getting the ports. Neither of them are Microsoft bribes.
First - it's -easy-. Easy means cheap. Cave don't care if your system breaks, that's not their problem. They don't care if the system is region locked - they've never shown an interest in the non-Japanese market anyway - and everyone in Japan who cares enough about Ketsui to play it, will certainly buy a system to do so. All that matters is the path of least resistance here, and the 360 is certainly that - whereas the PS3 is like self mutilation in comparison. The games will probably just run on top of an emulation layer. Tell me which system is easiest to write emulation layers for? The almost completely alien PS3, the underpowered Wii (I'm sure it could easily run a native port, an emulation? Doubtful), or a moderately powerful PC in a box? Oh snap - PC wins.
Secondly - you've got to think there's a momentum thing going here. List the 'modern' shmups coming to the PS3. Actually, try to think of even one. Now list the 360 ones. If you can't see what's happening here then you're blind. The 360 is becoming the new shmupbox. Why? See above. It's easy and cheap. Every new title adds weight to this until eventually people don't even think of porting to another platform - it becomes automatic.
I know most of the complaining is driven by MS hate. I can identify with that, I work in IT and despise Windows and everything it has created. Why are you guys giving Sony such an easy ride though? They're the ones who sue exporters into the ground for selling games on their "region free" consoles. They're the ones who got even /owning/ a modchip made illegal in parts of Europe. They're the ones who thought it was acceptable to put a root kit on customers PCs.
Eventually the ports will come out, maybe they're good, maybe not. I hope I get a chance to find out (I don't much feel like importing yet another console). The best thing anyone can do is write to them, without using swear words, to ask for the region flag to not be set.
