Tate-able monitors; what/where to buy?

long story short:

always played shmups on my consoles; looking to get into PCBing.
want to find a tate-able monitor...but actually have no idea where to look...
anyone have any tips/advice?
should i go LCD? or no?
links?

Look for a cheap sony PVM series monitor locally.

Craigslist or a pawnshop/flea market. Look for an old CRT with S-video inputs, but they tend to be on the very small side. If you want RGB and larger size then it looks like you'll need a PVM or something similar.

Another option is to buy an actual monitor used in arcade cabinets.
