It's called Shooter: Space Shot for the Playstation. It was one of those very last PSX games released in the US. It was a bargain title and was only 5 bucks when it came out.
Not bad. The dialog's in Japanese with subtitles. It's freakin short! Only 5 stages and none of them are particularly long. NO POWERUPS!?!? What you start with is what you got. Pretty fun game, though. Worth the penny(plus shipping of course) I shelled out for it.
Anyone else played this one or know anything about it?
So I got this one for a penny off of ebay

I have this one.
Problem is I keep forgetting I have it
So I've not played it much.
But Im familiar with the group that put those out, there were actually alot of those "bargain" titles in that series that were actually pretty good.
Look for Sanvein, I say. Another in that bargain-game series, and a favorite of mine.
It's.... strange, but I love it.

The 411 on Success Corp.'s Sanvein & Psyvariar MU...
Both Agetech game releases of Shooter: Space Shot and Shooter: Starfighter Sanvein were originally sold at the MSRP of $9.99 USD upon their debut...
A fellow shmupper in the past said something about the PSX release of Shooter: Starfighter Sanvein was originally developed for the arcade-based Taito G-Net mobo along with Psyvariar Medium Unit -- both developed by Success Corp. of Japan. The music found in Sanvein is done by the same guy did the music for Psy-MU & Psyvariar Revision. Both titles of Psy-MU & Sanvein were in joint-developement and Success decided to give Psy-MU the "green light" for play on the G-Net mobo.
It's interesting to see such Taito G-Net options listed on the Sanvein Options Menu -- had it been given the "green light", it would've definitely made it's intial debut on the G-Net mobo setup with better gameplay and graphics, of course..... ^_~

No, not at all. The gameplay and graphics would have been identical. It was a low budget production and the graphic presentation of the game was an artistic choice (the PS1 hardware can handle far more than what Sanvein throws around). Also, the play-control is spot-on. The handling of the craft takes some getting used to, but once you understand how the inertia works, you can easily use it to your advantage.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:It's interesting to see such Taito G-Net options listed on the Sanvein Options Menu -- had it been given the "green light", it would've definitely made it's intial debut on the G-Net mobo setup with better gameplay and graphics, of course..... ^_~

Never heard of it before now. I found a 99 cent Ebay auction and it arrived today (shipping was $4.50). All I can say is thanks...its not a bad little shmup. Its a great diversion from my usual lot...and the price...well for a buck, you can't beat it.black flag nc wrote:It's called Shooter: Space Shot for the Playstation. This is why I hate penny/99 cent auctions.ROBOTRON wrote:I found a 99 cent Ebay auction and it arrived today (shipping was $4.50).
Any round figure between 1 penny and 99 cents is a go, though (like a quarter, or half dollar). Like to keep my small change.

Yeah I dig that desert level, too. There's some good engrish in the dialogue. Not a bad game for so cheap.ROBOTRON wrote:
