Modding a Hori Capcom Fighting Jam (real arcade pro)

I've had a CFJ for some time now, and recently bought a seimitsu LS-32 and some sanwa OSBF-30s (screw-in) to put in. The stick looks like it will go in fine, but I had a problem with the buttons -- they are too close together, and the screw-in parts hit each other!

Before I do something drastic like epoxying the buttons down without the screw-in part, or getting a new top plate fabricated with wider button spacings, has anyone dealt with this before? Maybe grinding down the screw-in can work?

Before you say buy some more (snap-in) buttons -- I live in New Zealand (i.e. get reamed on postage) and really do prefer the screw-ins as they don't twist or jiggle as much.

Additionally, can anyone tell me what size quick-connects are needed for the LS-32, so I don't have to solder directly to the stick?

I may be mistaken, and thinking of another stick, but in order to make screw-in buttons work, you need to first line up the button nuts on the underside of the CP then screw the buttons down from the top.

If they don't quite fit I suppose you could take a sander to the edges that are butting up.

I also could be mistaken, but I believe the LS-32 uses a 5-pin harness that connects directly to the stick PCB, much like a JLF. If so, it already has individual wires run.

LS-32-01 has the harness, LS-32 has individual microswitches. I believe the quick connects are .187". If you can't find them, convert to metric and round up (5mm or so). Slightly bigger ones should still work ok.

Problem number 2:

Gave up on the buttons, wanted to get the stick in anyway. All good except the screws holding the original sanwa in appear to be completely stuck! I have a screwdriver that fits nicely in the screw head, but no matter how hard I try they just won't budge.

Has anyone done this before? Any tricks to get them to move?
