Neo-Geo CDZ problem

Post by Bootaaay »

Hey there, not sure where to post this (I tried to post it over at neo-geo.com but for some reason new users can't make threads in the tech support section :/), so I hope it's in the right place.

Anyways, I have a Japanese Neo-Geo CDZ that I aquired from ebay ages ago and never got around to setting up, however I now can't get the machine to turn on. I'm using a fully opperational voltage converter, so I don't think thats the problem.

The power supply that came with the CDZ is a 'POWCD-J1' and on the back of the Neo-Geo it says 'Use POWCD-J2 AC Adaptor Only' - now my problem is, I can't find a CDZ power supply with that designation anywhere, the only one i've found is a 'POWCD-E' from France - does it really matter which CD power unit I use? Or could this more likely be a problem with the console itself?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give, i've already paid out for two voltage converters trying to get this to work, i'd rather not order a power supply from France only to find out it's the CDZ itself thats broke.

Cheers,

Yip, you gotta use POWCD-J2!

POWCD-J1 is the one for the regular Neo Geo CDs, not the CDZs.

What I'm wondering is, they both have really different plugs, so how were you even able to plug the POWCD-J1 into the CDZ!?

I'll check the specs of the POWCD-J2 later and let you know. You can use any AC adaptor with the same specs, the problem is just finding the very unique plug used for the CDZ. If need be you can probably get it through an electronics specialist, then you can solder your own AC adapter with that.
