I just got back from a trip to the nearby Hard Off, where there was a stack of probably 8-10 (2 or 3 white) Saturns in the junk section, along with a few Dreamcasts. My trip to various Akihabara game stores about two weeks ago also had both Saturns and Dreamcasts for sale in various places.
I wouldn't worry too much about either of the consoles getting too terribly rare or expensive, and any seller claiming that this is the case should probably be avoided.
Although both the Saturn and the Dreamcast can be made to play imports pretty easily, so it's not like you're really up a creek should the sale of used Japanese versions of the consoles ever be halted.
For the ones who live in japan - Saturn and stores question

You can make a fortress and hide in it w/ all the Saturns sold at retro game shops. I try to sell Saturns for $70 shipped whenever I get them cheap enough. Would probably have to do it SAL to make it worth it most of the time though. That's $30 for the unit, $40 for shipping. People wipe their asses w/ Saturns here. That's how many there are.

You're not kidding; people on various message boards back in the west were always spunking their knickers over the white Saturns, while I could probably afford to send a container of them back home if I had 100 yen for every one I've seen. It's really tempting to try and bring one back with me, especially if they're just a few hundred yen at Hard Off. I've already got a US version with a 4-in-1 back home, so even if the thing doesn't work I could just swap the guts and have a nice white shell.GaijinPunch wrote:People wipe their asses w/ Saturns here. Didn't stop me from grabbing a Dreamcast Agetec stick yesterday for 500 yen, but you've gotta draw the line somewhere.
