Intergalactic Shmuppreciation Month 2008

Post by Old_Nijhazer »

Hi, folks. Some of you might remember last year when the Team Fremont guys held "National Shmuppreciation Month" during the month of March... We've decided to do it again, except this year it's to be more inclusive in order to encourage further enjoyment of shmups among any gamers that got hooked on recent titles like Everyday Shooter and Omega Five.

Obviously I'm preaching to the choir here, so I won't take up too much more of your time. I do want to mention, though, that we're holding a contest again, and this time there actually is a prize: a Japanese PS2 and Espgaluda Special Edition. Around here, all of you probably have these already-- but for those that don't, here's your chance to win it.

Anyway, we've set up a site called Shmup Month to collect all the information related to Shmuppreciation Month in one place. There's a podcast feed there to which you can subscribe and get any shmup-related podcasts published during the month. If anyone here knows of any shmup-related 'casts, please let me know, and I'll add them to the feed.

Thanks very much!

What's this Espgaluda special edition? I don't think I've ever heard of it.

Well, the way I heard it is that the for the PS2 release of Espgaluda, there's a version that comes with a DVD-ROM and a version that doesn't; and this one comes with it.

No, all Espgaluda's come with the DVD. There is no 'special edition'.

Duly noted. I'll update the site.

Anyway, thanks for your input, and enjoy your shmups. I'll bother you no longer.

Hi MC Wilson, I was hoping you'd post this here, so I held off on making a thread this year.

Last year's Shmuppreciation Month was a great idea for spreading passion about shmups to newcomers and lapsed shmuppers alike. The Shmup Month 2008 RSS feed this year is a nice addition to more simply keep track of everything.

Kudos to Broadcast Gamer and Team Fremont for once again organising this event.

I can see interesting festivities in the Team Fremont forums already...

Shmup Month is coming along very well I think. I just had my entry submitted. I really like the other audio samples, too. Very interesting stuff!

Well - that all sounds great. Gutted I discovered it a bit late to submit a Shmup101, or did I. Perhaps tonight...

Oh, and FL Studio. :)
