fighter17, it's good to know i'm not the only one that got boned by the factory. my r9's cockpit is bent off at an angle like your image fight ship, and has several other little dings. guess it could be worse but i was still pretty disappointed, as it's otherwise a really cool little set.
Gashapons are often a little bit bent. Submerging them in a bit of warm water and then straightening everything out before it cools is a way that you can fix them, its worked for me in the past, your mileage may vary however.
My set of six, including the blue Silver Hawk, arrived in the mail this morning. R-9 had a wing snapped off which was easily fixed. Red Silver Hawk had a chunk chipped off the back - but it's hardly noticeable.
I also ordered a random craft from play asia which arrived on Christmas Eve, so I have two Daedaluses. The quality of the paint jobs seems to be pot luck. My first Daedalus has all the panel-lines inked in and looks awesome (like Fighter 17's Metarion) but the second one has just the basic colours and no black panel lines. None of my other models have these black lines - I wonder if this is the colour variation thats supposed to be found in the 12 pack?
From what I can gather, the Black R-9 comes with R-Type Tactics and I believe the Yellow "CF Type" Silver Hawk is a custom (I can tell from the reverse-facing dorsal fin and having seen a few customs in my time).
Cherry Chunks; you've made me realise the paint job is a little random. My Metarion has none of the black line work that Fighter17's has, but I have loads more detail in black lines on the Image Fight craft than he does.
Guess it depends how exploited the poor bastard that does the painting in the factory/sweatshop making these was feeling that day....
That fin doesn't look reversed to me. That was my point... I couldn't find a picture of the game box showing a reversed fin, it just looks the same as the standard Silver Hawk to me (apart from it being yellow). Also, the model colour scheme isn't the same as the colour scheme of the ship on the game box (there's no red in the model), so I wouldn't necessarily assume they are meant to be the same.
Also, what is the ship in the middle of your picture Sly Cherry Chunks?
Just been looking at the NCSX link again, and they updated their description, it now states that there are 2 versions of Metarion and 2 versions of Silver Hawk. There was no variant of Metarion in my box set, so I think this is a mistake, as is their stating that there are 2 versions of Silver Hawk (as there were 3 versions in my box).
Intersting regarding that Daedalus variant. In the 1st batch released last year, some of the ships appeared to have no panel-lining applied (possibly a manufacturing error/oversight). Maybe that variant is from the 1st batch (or are we looking at unreleased prototypes here)? I think you are probably right though - it's probably a custom, like that silver-coloured Silver Hawk in the same picture.
Is that yellow Silver Hawk in your screen-grab from G-Darius? Is it the player 2 ship? It's strange how the one on the box shows a fin configuration identical to the older Silver Hawks, yet the one in your screenshot shows it reversed. Eitherway, I don't think the yellow Silver Hawk gashapon is meant to be the G-Darius Silver Hawk as the colour scheme is different.

As for the yellow silver hawks, they appear in intro and cut scenes whenever it needs to show the good guys getting smacked down by the baddies. In Darius Gaiden theyre just a different colour - but in GDarius they have a slightly different design. In fact, the Silver Hawk from GDarius is almost a completely new design anyway.
Ah, I remember those being on sale a few years ago. Probably going to be tricky to find one on it's own now...
As for that silver-coloured Silver Hawk in your picture, upon closer inspection, I'm 100% certain that it's just a repaint as you can still see bits of blue under parts of the silver paint.

Ditto. I am a little overwhelmed myself, they look so sweet, hope I don't biff 'em. Per F17's previous suggestion, I'm gonna get some super or hobby glue then me and my brother (who has a bit of model kit experience) are going to set a good couple of hours aside. Don't know yet what I'll do with the variants. I have several friends here who would love them, but if I'm feeling more completist than charitable, then I'd be up for a trade.
Be sure to post a list, as I did, of all the ship types and variants so we can ascertain the full list. For example, any sign of that Metarion variant that NCSX mentioned?
