The leaderboards only list the Top 100. It's stupid and they need to patch it.

Or you could learn to play well enough to earn a score that will make the Top 100. Your call.

I don't see what's the problem with the score keeping. It's like going to an arcade. If you want to keep progress of your own scores, grab a pen.

I can't even compare my score with my friends scores with the current leaderboards, that is unless they're in the top 100. Just admit the leaderboards for this game are rather broken. I would have liked to know the leaderboards weren't like every other XBLA game I've played before I bought the game.

...except everybody in the world plays on that one machine in your neighborhood.

I don't mean to convict you guys for stating your opinions, I just think all leaderboards should be created equal.

I've only seen videos so far but I'm going to buy it when I get home. From what I've seen the bomb animations look nicer as well as some of the other blurring effects, what else is improved?

not much.... don't worry it's still pretty ugly.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I downloaded this game, and it's so-so. I hate to be so superficial, but the main thing hurting this game is it's looks. It looks so bland. The music is so-so too.

The anchor thing is pretty cool, and is pretty fun to use. This reminds me a little of Psyvariar Complete where the game has an interesting mechanic, but is let down by it's appearance. It's not that the game needs to be a graphical powerhouse, but interesting graphics are usually pretty important with shmup fans.

If you're desperate, it's OK.

I like the music. It has bass slapping and synth. What's not to like?

Well, it's OK, I guess. It does have the bass. There's things I like about the game, it just needed more "oomph".

So, do you guys think the reason they released all these other shooters(Rez, Triggerheart, and Omega Five) before Ikaruga is so they wouldn't be overshadowed? Not that some of those aren't decent to quite good...it just sorta seems like they are holding back Ikaruga to make sure the others have a good shot.

Hey, when the hell is Bionic Commando coming out anyway?

It's worth 10 dollars at least, easily. And it's better than the Milestone games IMO. Although they usually have some interesting music at least.

So like, for the top 100, is everyone doing that bullshit stage 1 milking trick?

If so, then fuck that.

I only had time for a couple of runs, no clear, but I tried it out at my friend's place (gamertag JILost, the score is mine) but there are definitely some minor changes aside from adding graphic polish and horrible sound effects. The multiplier isn't visible in this version, so I can't tell for sure what's going on.

dude, I don't even think 100 people know how to grow medals.

I've done no milking and I'm up there. Not even a 1CC

How do you milk it, just keep throwing stuff back at the boss without killing it?

I don't know if this is what they're talking about, but the first boss does have a couple of forms that spew little enemies you can keep killing for medals and not even attack the boss. Throwing them at the boss will surely kill it, of course.

One thing I noticed from a video I saw.. the Xbox 360 version doesn't show the current multiplier. I'm sure that would have helped people understand the scoring system a little better.

This game really needs a patch to fix a few minor things.

The boss explosions, as mentioned above, are ear scratchingly bad.

It needs a 4:3 mode, apparently (I'm using a 1080p so I can't verify), on 4:3 TVs it still borders the game in tate mode because it still displays it as a 16:9 image.

It needs a full leaderboard, like EVERY other XBLA game has. Look, I'm in the top 100 for easy/hard (yeah, go figure) but ultimately I want to be able to compare scores with the people on my friend list as I've pimped the game to quite a few of them.

Before I buy this I just need to know - in which direction does the screen rotate when choosing Tate mode? I've got my 360 hooked up to my computer monitor and the thing is designed to rotate 90 degrees, but only in one direction o_o

I'm using the left analogue stick, and it's not nearly as bad as I expected. It's a hell of a lot more precise than the PS2's analogue sticks for games like this, at least (which is no great feat).

For some reason on both my wireless 360 controllers, if i move the left analog stick a tiny bit to the left, it will keep moving left... rather annoying if you're accidentally doing this in the middle of a boss fight.

Look up 360 dpad mod on google, it's very easy to do and makes a huge difference.

You can choose both left or right, so no worries.

I'm curious, since ikaruga is coming to live and a much lesser known DC shmup was ported, is there any chance titles such as border down could be made available to xbox live?

This game being released finally put me over the edge and I went out and tracked down a HORI FightingStick EX2. Local GameStop had 1 left for $39.95.

I think I like it better than my PS2 Tekken 5 stick.

All my XBLA games are MUCH more enjoyable now. Pac-Man with the 360 controller was driving me batshit!

Hey folks,

This was posted by Ross Erickson on our forums. He's the former Worldwide Portfolio Manager for XBLA, now working for Sierra.

He had this to say regarding Triggerheart and I thought you guys would be interested:
Hehe... Glad this one finally made it out. I got it green-lit from the Japan team quite a long time ago (about 5 months before I left MS). Interesting shooter. I wanted them to do a real full-blown remake on the game, but they pussied out and just did an emulation version with "curtains". I was on a 'schmup-hunt' right before I left. Got Ikaruga greenlit and was looking at a number of other smaller, indie-shooters too before I moved on to Sierra.

Gamespots review is up. They gave it a 6. The defining line is "Triggerheart is a passable arcade shooter, but doesn't offer enough to make it worth the asking price." Also, the game apparently features only 15 minutes of gameplay.
Feedback will set you free.

Not worth the asking price? maybe if you just credit feed through it once. But then most people probably will.
