It's definitely worth the 800pts ($10). I bought the LE edition on DC and I will for sure spend the $10 to have it on 360. We should really supports shmups when they come on XBLA if we want more of them.RuffNEC wrote:is that Game any good ?! Have my doubts!

The 500pts to shoot a gun is obviously exaggerated. You have to consider that XBLA games have 200pts total compared to full size games which have 1000pts by default and can expand to 1250pts with DLC.Erinu wrote:Halo 3: shoot a gun - 500 points
Triggerheart Exelica - beat the game without dying on the hardest difficulty, 15 points
SuperGrafx is right, show some support! Even if you bought the Dreamcast version, you should really consider re-buying it for XBLA. It's the only way to show devs that users outside Japan care about shmups. It's only 10$ and you don't even have to leave your couch.SuperGrafx wrote:Show your support.
Buy this game when it becomes available.
Encourage developers to release more shmups on XBLA!
That is all!

Yes, and you would have a point if retail Xbox 360 games used their achievement system properly by placing achievements which are difficult to obtain like in Dead Rising. Unfortunately shit like Halo 3 exists, where you can get half of the achievements within a day or two.genetik wrote: The 500pts to shoot a gun is obviously exaggerated. XBLA games only get 200 points? Microsoft's problem, not the game creator's.
Holy shit did that dude really bomb 3 times in the first level, and not even use the anchor once? Oh man us folks at shmups.com are going to rule the leader boards. Anyone else but me think the updated music sound like shit?spadgy wrote:More misguided layfolk wordfaff....szycag wrote:http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/this- ... /#comments

Yea, half of the point of the game is the anchor. : \ You figure they'd show that off.malcolm wrote:Holy shit did that dude really bomb 3 times in the first level, and not even use the anchor once? The idiots at IGN have posted their review.
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/855/855191p1.html
Why do they allow these ignorant assholes who know nothing about the genre to write reviews?
I know the game isn't in any top ten lists but it's not as bad as they say.

Concerning the THE achievements: Most don't list specifics such as difficulty, bomb stock, or life stock. If this is, in fact, the case, even "Perfect Play" could be gimped by using a high bomb stock.
Then again, achievements might only unlock on full defaults.
Personally, I'm debating picking this up. I cleared it on the DC, and wasn't notably impressed...so we'll see.

XBLA games only get 200 points because they cost $5 to $10(with a few $15 exceptions) compared to $60 retail releases.Erinu wrote: Yes, and you would have a point if retail Xbox 360 games used their achievement system properly by placing achievements which are difficult to obtain like in Dead Rising. It's not a perfect system but most intelligent people put more stock in what achievements you unlock instead of how many points you have.

Just got this, it's been a while since I've played the Dreamcast version and I'm playing on a standard 4:3 CRT so I can't really comment on whether the visuals have had an overhaul but there's an arranged soundtrack now which just seems to add more guitars.
There's also the usual screen and controller rotate options and full controller configuration options.
I like the disclaimer when you go to change the screen settings...

Warning!
Do not attempt to play this on a standard television or computer monitor turned on its side.
Doing so can increase the risk of fire, personal injury or damage to the equipment.
The game should be played with a vertical screen only when using a video monitor designed for this purpose.
Please contact the manufacture of your television or monitor to ensure that it can be positioned vertically.

I thought it was very responsible of them to put the warning in, and good that the option exists. Soundtrack sounded weird until I noticed 'arrange' is default. Good port though, exactly how I remember the DC version, been a while since I played it since hooking the DC up is a pain.
Good times. Worldwide release too, so get ready for the reviews on big name sites totally marking it down just for being a shooter, and killing the player.

At least there's mainstream coverage of shmups, but IGN could easily use one of the established game journo's who know there shmups...
