HRAP PCB Failure?

I heard from someone that using "bad" PS2 > USB converters for the HRAP can lower the lifespan of the pcb. Meaning it could fail or burn because of the converter. anyone has any info on this?

I've heard random reports of this type. Most have to do with a certain type of controller rev. So...heard about it...never seen anything definitive.

Doubt it but I guess it's possible. HRAP PCBs die really fast anyway though.

Like what, 1000 hours?

and if it dies what the easiest way to replace it? using a 3rd party controller pcb and wiring it up?

I dunno about hours, but people around here have HRAPs (mostly T5 ones but a few HRAP2s as well) die all the time. They usually can last a year or so without work, but then it's usual some big problem like the PCB died or a bunch of buttons start dieing.

The HRAP2 has a really awful chassis design where you will likely need to dremel the thing so you can get a cord through. Other than that it's mostly just wiring up a new PCB, yeah.

I smell BS...

If the probs with the buttons/PCB were that obvious (failing after a year or so) we would have lots of reports on the forums and Hori would prolly have adressed it back in japan.

The buttons are not of the highest quality but I had my stock hrap2 for about a year before modding it and had no problems whatsoever...

are you related to someone selling custom sticks?

They don't die right away, they start to die after like a year or so of regular use. We have a pretty huge fighting game scene in the area and I've seen more T5 sticks come and go than any other kind of stick. I've had to fix 3-4 myself just from the local players.

Custom sticks are a crapshoot though, because there are so many awful stick makers out there. I've fixed more custom sticks than Horis for sure. I should really take more pictures of the kind of crap I see inside these things.
