360 or ps3
360s are currently making a 10% profit margin after parts and labor, so sony isn't far behind in net loss/gain
still won't buy a PS3 until there's an RTS though, as the 360 has everything else covered already

Considering how 85% of every game released these days on a console is dual/multiplatform I don't see the reason why it is
plus the 360 controller would be flat shit for RTS controlling

Haha, you're failing like shit right now. Scrub tactics Extraordinaire. When all else fails, attack a typo (lol Grammar Nazi ftl) from 30 pages back, completely unrelated to anything going on currently in the topic. Stick a fork in 'em, he's done.Skykid wrote:Yeah Spazicon, I've heard of that! That's like in Afterburner when the section comes up when you need to refuel theEver heard of signing out? plane and you need to guide the fuel link into the back. But instead you sit in your living room, and when the
plane appears, you run the fuel line from your console into the F-17! When you're done, you can unplug the
plane from your system, but not when the chip is on right?
Stop posting.

A typo is when you mis-spell. You just can't spell.
It's great messing with with you man, you get so angry you start swearing and stuff. Then you end up with loads of 'typo's'.
Word, chief (no, I'm never going to let you live the macho Americana schoolboy slang down.)
You're the best Spazicon, even if you are a bit thick.

Come on Unscathed you gotta be fair - you made a point about me getting my facts straight (the Namco thing was an accident), but this link reports they won't be breaking even until 2009.http://kotaku.com/344097/ps3s-now-made- ... -the-price
Something similar appeared in IGN and other gaming sites, but I'm too lazy to check.
I wouldn't have thought they'd reached that stage yet, and I can't find anything on the net to suggest they have.

even more so than for FPS, probably. Or as much. I can (barely) understand that people like to play FPSs on consoles for the artistic value of their solo play, but RTSs have little artistic value compared to FPSs so I guess it would be 100% pointless to release RTSs on consoles without widespread keyboard and mouse controllers. If you like RTS gaming, you should be mainly into multiplayer, and you should play on a PC.

Breaking even as in start making money from all the losses they have incurred from the machine. Read properly and you'll see they say the PS3 costs $400 to manufacture now.

The fact that you think I'm mad at anything you are doing is hilarious. You are mere entertainment to me, as I've pointed out many times in the past several pages.
Seriously, stop posting. Embarrassing yourself.

Yeah, right. I've never heard anyone blow their lid like you - you spent nearly the entirety of the thread swearing left right and center to get your mis-guided points across. You're furious, and I love it.
No Spazzo, what's hilarious is that you've actually reached a point where you've started to imitate my posts because you're so just so slow in the head. I think you'll find, over the past several pages, that it was I who branded you as entertainment from the earliest point, and not the other way around. You are mere entertainment to me, as I've pointed out many times in the past several pages.
Don't worry though, little kids do that stuff when they get frustrated and run out of things to say.
I'm retiring from this thread - which in itself should have been retired a long time ago. I've certainly said my piece on the topic at hand - beyond that its been a complete and utter waste of time. I'm going back to talk about shmups, which is a genre that barely factors in this current console generation.
But...no...Oh, yes - what the hell! I've got to do it, just because this is word for word pure comedy value - I'm considering sigging this (ah, why not: sigged!)
One more time, just for the fun of it, I give you the most golden attempt to defame a controller in the history of... the world:

Well, it's true that first solution is possible, although I doubt many players would bother setting up a surface where they usually play to put a keyboard and mouse on.Twiddle wrote:The PS3 supports USB mice and keyboard, not to mention that the sixaxis control would be great for moving and rotating the playfield.
However, Sixaxis control would not be great for moving and rotating the playfield, only a small improvement on the sucky control a joystick would provide... When you play a RTS, you usually move around a little bit with the mouse, move your view further very often by clicking on the minimap (not allowed by sixaxis), and most importantly by using group keys on the keyboard (you assign groups to many things in important locations such as raiding groups, scouts, transports, resource bases and production buildings, and double tap the group key to instantly move to their location). All this is vital to play fast enough in a multiplayer game.
I don't see a solution for this problem. Making a game that could somehow be played well with a gamepad would probably mean making a very very simple game with little depth OR that is so slow that you'd need 1 hour to do as much as you normally do in 5-10 minutes. There is already a good example of that in FPSs : Shadowrun, which is supposed to be focused on multiplayer team based competitive play. I have admittedly yet to play it but I'm quite sure it is overly shallow compared to any decent PC multiplayer FPS. Halo 3 is actually another good example and this one is definitely ridiculously shallow. It is a far inferior copy of Quake and UT ideas as they play on PC.

I've played nearly every major multiplayer FPS on the PC and Shadowrun stands up quite well.
Oh and by the way:
Blue Dragon is nothing like Dragon Quest and Lost Odyssey is nothing like Final Fantasy. Could we refrain from talking out of our assholes?

Of any competitive game yeah I guess... unless it resembles another game a lot perhaps. Like, for Halo 3 it's pretty obvious from the way it's controlled, the way the maps and game modes are designed and the weapons it includes that it's going to play like a much simpler version of quake / UT, but it's true that I would probably have to see much more of Shadowrun to be able to tell what it's worth.
Will we see a price cut for the X360 here in the US in the near future ?. Microsoft just annouced a cut for Canada (from the magicbox):
"Microsoft has announced a price cut of Xbox 360 in Canada. The Xbox 360 Elite retail price is reduced from $499 to $449; the regular Xbox 360 is reduced from $399 to $349, the Xbox 360 Arcade is reduced from $299 to $279, and the Xbox 360 Halo 3 Special Edition is reduced from $449 to $399."

I would go with the PS3. But has anyone on here played White Knight Chronicles? Because it got very poor reviews-we're talking Lair level scores. That worries me, because I love Level-5.

I keep planning on getting a PS3, but I can't really get motivated to. Everything is on the 360, and then the 360 has shmups and XBLA. Maybe when GOW3 comes out....

Re: 360 or ps3
360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP ... they're all about the same to me, all have their pluses and minuses. It's funny, I consider this gen kind of a bust games-wise but it's the most expensive ever for me. Wish I had some stupid hang-up so I could arbitrarily decide I hate one or two of the systems - fanboyism would be easier on the wallet.
