Little story about the Xevious "music": My friend brought back some gifts from Japan, and one of them was a Namco "Figure with sound".
When you buy the box you don't know which one you're getting. I was hoping for Mappy. Sure enough I got Xevious, cuz I'm the shooter fan of the group woooooo. You hit this little button and it plays those infamous four bars.
I appreciate Xevious a bit more after playing the XBL version, and I recognize the innovation for the time and all that, but you could write a college thesis on how that tune drills into your brain.

Agree 100%.Macaw wrote:Easily Raiden Fighters Jet
The thing though is, even though I think RFJ has the worst music and absolutely terrible graphics aesthetic, the game itself is still in my top 10. Whereas Darius Gaiden is tops for both easily and not in my top 10. (I'm not saying I deserve a cookie, just saying.)
To preempt, I like Radiant Silvergun in an ironic way.Twiddle wrote:You like Radiant Silvergun in a non-ironic way. Your opinion is null and void.Macaw wrote:I think the correct answer is raiden fighters jet
You know there's no reason to compare the two since they have different composers...nimitz wrote:I vote for Under defeat...the composition itself isn't THAT bad, but it makes you fall asleep and just doesn't fit the game at all. yet i think Border down has a nice fitting soundtrack.
I never knew people hated the Under Defeat soundtrack. It's interesting. UD sounds like Ibara which is the only Cave soundtrack I like, besides maybe Guwange.

Shinji Hosoe composed both UD and Ibara's OSTs, just in case you didn't know.
I've never really heard a resemblance, though... although I like both, UD sounds very airy and slow-paced, while Ibara had a catchier and more instantly-gratifying sound. Outside of UD's Stage 5 track "Tears That Died," which is kind of an anomaly on that OST.

How would you say Dragon Saber's OST compares to his Dragon Spirit's? Every time Dragon Spirit's OST is mentioned I think "hell yea- oh, wrong game." I've been meaning to listen to it, I love Saber's.

Actually he's not because I think he's one of the shmunplers (a shunt player) who thinks games with unique mobility and scroll mechanics shouldn't have meaningless and derogatory classifications, often based on rhyme.oh and btw, if you like radiant silvergun you're totally not an elite shmuper like twidiot
Also, I could listen to 1942 for days.

Anyway either 1942 or Rezon.
1942's "music" had my lol'ing pretty damn hard for a long time; I kept dying because I kept laughing at the "music."

B-Wings. I think the soundtrack tastes...yellow-ish.
Huh, don't remember.
RE Bakraid: The only track I liked in the game was actually from another game.
Edit: lol @ agreement with Spec. Awesome!

Artistically a failure all-around, except for the character portraits. Hasty generalization time: In-game art gets sloppier while portraits get better (certainly when you use render for game sprites).Herr Schatten wrote:Giga Wing.

I like Metal Black's OST a lot. It's not an intense or catchy soundtrack, but it does complement the game's bleak mood very well, lightening it with hope at some times and morbidly intensifying it at others. It gives a lot of finesse to a deliberately burnt-out, depressed atmosphere.
