This about sums it up for me...as much flack (some deserved) that Cave has gotten for "going girly" lately, when you actually play the games instead of looking at the ads then the T+A is about as seldom-seen as you could reasonably expect (even in far more "blatantly" fan-servicey titles like Ibara). I'm not a huge fan of "burlesque acts" in my games, myself, but when you get right down to it it isn't nearly as bad as it could be.bloodflowers wrote:Doesn't bother me, ships will still be ships, firing bullets at other ships.
As a single guy, if it were just me and my gaming buddies, I might be able to justify having a Mushihimesama poster or some Ibara figures, but in all honesty, when "outsiders" see that kinda stuff I would have a difficult time not being embarrassed. And now, being as I'm getting married, I really don't want to have anything around that would give my wife the impression that she is lacking because she doesn't look like some voluptuous anime character.BulletMagnet wrote:...as much flack (some deserved) that Cave has gotten for "going girly" lately, when you actually play the games instead of looking at the ads then the T+A is about as seldom-seen as you could reasonably expect (even in far more "blatantly" fan-servicey titles like Ibara).

I couldn't agree more! Congrats on getting married as well!
If your wife would seriously think that, it probably means she doesn't know you very well.undamned wrote:I really don't want to have anything around that would give my wife the impression that she is lacking because she doesn't look like some voluptuous anime character.

Having said that, congrats and all the best!

Thanks for the congrats, fellas

Well, as much as my "to-be" is confident in my love for her, you'd be astounded by how sensitive most women are about their looks and how they are perceived by their mate. Women want to know that they are everything their mate could possibly want and they are sensitive to picking up on any area you are looking elsewhere to fulfill. Don't leave her any room for doubting youCIT wrote:If your wife would seriously think that, it probably means she doesn't know you very well.

As much as that blue ship's color, as well as that blonde maid, makes me think of Pop 'N Twinbee, I still have faith this will be nothing short of awesome. Twinbee was also cool in its own way. Not in the same way as DDP of course.
Deathsmiles has little 13-year old goth girls flying around and shooting shit from their feathery wands, yet still, the game manages to remain really kick ass. Joker Jun's artwork and the metal soundtrack helped a lot in that, and many people didn't expect that by just looking at its loli-licious promo poster.
This is going to be great. I can feel it. Cave has never let us down.
A couple hours to go!!
Has anyone confirmed who the artist for the game is? I might have missed it, but I'm too hungry and lazy to dig it out.

I'm not even talking about the "moychindyzing," just the game itself - if anyone walked in and saw you playing Mushi or Ibara they wouldn't look twice, they'd just see lots of explosions and shiny things, as it should be. Just don't let 'em see the cases.undamned wrote:As a single guy, if it were just me and my gaming buddies, I might be able to justify having a Mushihimesama poster or some Ibara figures, but...

As I said, I'm no fan of exploiting the female form, but the games themselves, for the most part, keep the focus where it should be. Then again, I'm not married - who knows, if that ever happened I might think differently.
The latest info about this game is up on my site. Including pics and vids. Check it out.

HOLY SHIT, those bullet patterns look CRAZY!
Maybe that's just my initial reaction to seeing new bullets patterns for the first time. Now I can understand how my friends feel whenever I introduce them to DOJ.
This looks like it is more aligned with the original DDP, which is awesome. And dodging lasers coming from the left and right? Reminds me of Ikaruga.
Twinbee this is not.
Thanks for posting the impressions, EOJ. I think you're an asshole at times, but overall, you're allright.

Thanks for posting, ok I am sold now. The game looks great so far. Interesting that they have done away with bombs. Putting emphasis on the hypers for scoring/getting out of a jam sounds like a great way to focus the game's intensity. Love the shot of the tanks aiming their own charge lazers at the fighter.EOJ wrote:The latest info about this game is up on my site. Including pics and vids. Check it out.
So the dolls are the bosses (funny how they have no connecting joints ala Rayman) Wouldn't care if the ships didn't have their own characters and were just AI (would also be a funny way to continue DOJ's theme of machine vs machine).
Progear has been my supergun's lone PCB for several years, I could see myself getting this....when it's someday within $1000.

hmm.. the fact that it looks ALOT like DDP2 is a little worrying, did not expect that at all..
then again the screenshots look excellent and its hard to get a good idea of the gameplay from just the small vids posted, counter lazer looks pretty cool anyways and the hit counter goes up like crazy when it connects.
