Some people really are slow of understanding. Of course it's a sarcastic remark, it's how the "Guru" likes to respond to people asking stupid questions on his board or w/e.

OK, time to be an ass :

-> go buy the PCB if you want to play the game. Once you have it, you will be fine (or want another unreachable game)

So I lied, somewhat. I did see images somewhere of it, but I can't remember where, but it looked glitchy, that's all I know, and it was from the guru's site, and being that "TheGuru" posted here (if it's really him,) I'm assuming I have aroused the fact that infact, it actually is fully emulated being that TheGuru said it's running 100%, but someone's holding back on something here... (Seriously can't wait till the rom comes out!)

Maybe we should consult The Jesus. If he can turn water into wine than he can turn PCBs into ROMs for sure.

It's definetely a different atmoshere here now than when I was lurking forever and a day ago, or even after I joined. I just hope none of the old-timers go. Just think- if it's rock bottom, it can only go up from here.

You will also notice that he dumped Deathsmiles, to hell with all that "seven years after not being profitable" policy, which seems to NOT be a problem for devs. Betting is open for whether there is a DFK board on his desk right now, my money is on the "damn yes".
Anyway, we have the decryption table for ketsui and also a potential dumper that could do it (XingXing from FBA Team), but guess what? A board is still needed, since there' no way Guru would send back the dump ever's one: it would be naive not to think we would dump the hell out of it :)

But Guru doesn't actually own the Ketsui PCB does he ? I think it was a (collective) loan to Guru.

I think a year two after the 360 release would be a good time to put this thing on Mame.

I contributed to that Guru loan, but after the port was announced, I decided to back off.

Has anyone bothered asking Guru back for the board?

Who handles it at this point?

CAVE pcb's aren't shipped back to the donor until inclusion into MAME, to avoid "side dumping", at least that was the answer for Ketsui.

In short, yes. Unless someone with skills starts dumping his/her own board (I would do it personally now that I know of someone who can safely do it, but unfortunately I lack the funds :)), and it would be enough time I think: the PGM driver is in a state of utter disregard and what happens? Instead of focusing on it they dump ESPgaluda II and DeathSmiles? Sounds more of a "we can play it, you can't" than proper following the MAME principles. But then again, that's just me.

Also, I don't think this "CAVE special" policy was ever mentioned by Guru to the original promoter of the project. Perhaps they just wanted the pcb badly, but nevertheless it's some sort of theft.

How much are we talking about?

Also, I think the ESPG2 and DS dumps should be kept under wraps for a while until Cave has made their money with the 360. I'd hate to take money away from one of the finest shmup producing companies on the planet.

Kept under wraps? They basically announced to the whole world that they will defend CAVE profits at all costs... whilst using Luca's SH3 driver to play DS and Galuda 2 to their heart's contents. Not very MAME-like, but whatever - being Guru the only ROM provider, they can safely assume no one will code an independent emulator like back to the times of Model 2 :)
The day a random collector will buy a DS2 kit and rip out the HDD for us to clone and analyze, I think Guru will stomp his foot on the ground out of disappointment :P

Back to Ketsui, I don't know the actual quotations, but I'd say around $1000? Really, it's just a matter of having already bought it, but having it in the hands of an individual that first got it, then said "no you can't have it until I decide so". And he specifically set a rule that the donor can request copy of the software - but guess what? It would be too dangerous. I hope CAVE pc games don't get pirated, but I do hope a select few can obtain copies of their future games, just to signal how the party's over. If that board got back home safely, it would be just a matter of shipping it, perhaps along with a DDP2, to the FBA guys who could then give us both a fully emulated Bee Storm and a Ketsui dump. Heck, even a Mushi.
