I don't want to spoil the real first good shooter before the 78-83 countdown thread.

I think it and Mars Matrix are appealing. They've got a kind of early 90s feel. Ugly: GW2/GWG/Night Raid. Yeah, even Giga Wing 2. 3D shooters are almost all ugly.

I don't think addressing sarcasm as if you're falling for it is a good way to show you're actually understanding what's behind it. Good way to confuse anyone, though. ;)

I find questioning a question to be the best course (if it wasn't obviously sarcastic)... It's hard to tell bad sarcasm/ facetiousness from sincerity on the internet sometimes; and the reply usually tells me if their questions were sincere or sarcastic originally.
My english teacher told me that sarcasm is the "lowest" form of wit!**
On topic:
Before Zanac, Gun.Smoke; before that, Scion; before that, Robotron 2084; before that, Xevious; before that, Stargate; before that, Galaga, Moon Cresta, Galaxian etc. etc... draw the line where you want to...
** Not sarcasm.

That was neither sarcasm, nor witty... It was a loaded, double-edged question!
And yes of course, the UK educational system > *
I doubt you were being sincere... but... this topic is quite interesting for myself, being there from the early days of Space Invaders; and gradually seeing the genre evolve over the years. It's all a 'shade' of grey to me... though there are 'distinct' milestones in the genre...
