I've got a black NTSC-U DC (Sega Sports); I use it in the UK with a step down transformer... It has been working great for the past several years but recently the picture it outputs suddenly became mainly black, with the 'outline' of objects being fuzzy bright colours; boh via RGB Scart and S-Video... Any way to fix this without buying another unit?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: The sound still works perfectly fine via both Scart and S-Video.
EDIT 2: By-passed my multi-scart input selector and connected the DC directly to the TV, and now I get an 'embossed' greyscale image instead.

I seem to recall having something similar with an RGB-Scart a while back, and all that was wrong was the connector to the Dreamcast wasn't fully pushed in. I've read that others have found the A/V output to be a bit fussy also. Might be worth checking a bit of fluff hasn't got in socket. Hopefully it's something that simple!
Don't bomb. DON'T BOMB.
Damn! Should have bombed.

Tried different ways of forcing the connectors in, but still no luck; no fluff to be seen anywhere near the port!
Also tried opening the unit and putting pressure near the port to see if that made any difference; but no luck there too...
It might resurrect itself in 2009...

Re: Dreamcast display/ picture issues...
I had this happen to one of my DC's. I think the RGB out is now toast, and I think happened when I used the wrong SCART cable to XRGB2 (I think +5 went to the wrong pin). I haven't looked into it further since I have 3 of them, and just keep it for spare parts. If its an consolation, composite should still work fine.j^aws wrote: EDIT 2: By-passed my multi-scart input selector and connected the DC directly to the TV, and now I get an 'embossed' greyscale image instead.
