New Hudson Shooting Watch (and GBA emulator by me)

Post by ReKleSS »

I came across this, but haven't been able to find anything else on it. I was kind of hoping to get my hands on an original (or reissue) shooting watch, but that seems unlikely and expensive. I can't find anything else on this thing though, either on the Hudson or Yujin sites. I want one...

Someone went and wrote a DS Shooting Watch (fairly crap with the DS lite, should be good with the old one). Also, flash version. Unfortunately the flash version has to be done with the space bar, which is too damn slow.

I wanted to mash buttons on my GBA SP, but that other shooting watch thing is only for DS. So, I read up on GBA programming and wrote a GBA version. No graphics whatsoever, just the press count and the countdown timer. A or B to count, start to reset. Source is included, everything is public domain. http://style.rekless.fastmail.fm/gbasw.zip

I might add in a backdrop image later.

EDIT, two hours later: Added the backdrop. I should be sleeping, coding while tired sucks because I get stupid. Oh well. http://style.rekless.fastmail.fm/gba_sw_v2.zip. The image is not public domain, it's copyright Hudson. Who are Konami. Who I hope will not come after me.

Neat. There's an official version of the shooting watch for GBA in the Hudson Best Collections with emulations of Famicom games.

I'd always wondered what the Shooting Watch was all about
from: DS Shooting Watch
Hudson's idea for Shooting Watch first came about after some kid at the
Caravan tour saw Takahashi Meijin's button pressing skills, the kid sent him
a letter asking exactly how fast his finger speed was. So they measured it
and it came out at 16 shots a second, this is where Meijin's nickname
"16Shot" was born.

OK, so the gashapon shooting watches are... underwhelming. They're kind of cool but absolutely useless if you actually want to get a high score. I swapped out the membrane switch for a tactile microswitch on one and it still loses hits. Anyway, via 1up I came upon this. I'd order one but I'll be in Tokyo around that time anyway, so I'll try my luck there instead.

If anyone wants to buy a gashapon one, PM me. The star soldier one is gone, the yellow one is mine, but the rest I'm not too attached to.
