Seibu SPI on an Astro City?
Seibu SPI on an Astro City?
Ok, I searched all around and it looks like I'm fucked. As the title says can you play Seibu SPI games on an original Astro City? I keep getting the rolling. Anyone have any luck doing this and if so how? I'm dumb for not checking into this but out of all the PCB's I've owned, I've never had this problem. Oh well live and learn I guess. Any help/advice/"HA HA"s appreciated.
The game is a US Battle Balls by the way and I have a Raiden Fighters Jet on the way that I was pumped about playing.

Well, I've already been there, done that. I seem to be having problems with the +5v setting from my power supply though and I think that might be part of the problem too, or at least my Jamma harness is getting shot and doesn't always seat right on the boards. Reason I say this is I got Legend of Air Cavalry, Japanese version of Chopper I the other day. Well it wouldn't work worth a shit, but the guy who sold it to me told me it was the +5v setting being off. The more I reseated the board shifting it a bit to either side, the better the game worked. Finally I hit it just right and it worked great. I suspect this is what's messing up my Super Contra and suspect it might be causing this. I kept adjusting the holds and could almost get it right but never quite, so that's why I think its the +5v setting. Time to look for a new power supply I suppose. Any clue how much those run? In the meantime, I'm gonna try it out on some Jaleco Pony's and a New Astro City at the local import shop.
+5 shouldn't really effect video, but you never know for certain boards. Buying a new power supply would involve importing from japan and be very expensive do to weight. I'd advise to simply adjust your +5 via the hole on the top of the power supply. If you can't see it or get to it easily, then take the power supply out of the cab and hook it back up outside and adjust.
Regarding the harness, the edge connector on these Astro's really take a beating over time, and almost every machine I own has a cracked edge connector on both sides. Thus, when hooking up a new board be VERY careful that the edge connector lines up with the PCB teeth correctly, otherwise you risk misalignment and possibly shorting out your board or your power supply.

Honestly this is not a problem if you take your time plugging boards in and making sure that the teeth line up correctly to the edge connector. Like I said almost all of mine are cracked/broken, and its never been a problem for me.caldwert wrote:Well, the one edge is for sure cracked, the other one is almost there. I guess I should just get a new Jamma harness then go from there right? That seems to be part of the problem.
Figured out the problem. Got a Raiden Fighters in today, works perfectly, then swapped its cart onto my Battle Balls mobo, and it displays all fucked up like Battle Balls. Swapped Battle Balls onto the RF mobo and it works perfectly. Perfectly that is once I figured out those damn jumper settings. So I now have to figure out how to fix the mobo. Anyone have any problems with the mobo's going bad or displaying bad video? Best description I can give is its like watching scrambled porn as a kid on cable, hahaha. Yes I just made that analogy, but that's what its like.
