Once again, name that shmup

Post by escadrille »

Another early 90's Raiden-esque vert shmup. The gimmick with this one was that your stock of secondary weapons/bombs trailed behind your ship as a tail of icons, and these were fired in order by pressing the bomb button. Grabbing a bomb powerup added it to your "tail" of bombs. There were several different types of bombs as well. You could store quite a few and the "tail" got pretty long as I recall.

Thoughts?

Bingo, that's it.

It''s funny, in my memory the graphics always look about one generation better than they actually are. Gemini Wing is definately the game, but I imagined the graphics being closer to Raiden Fighters. Time can be harsh.

Haha indeed! Either everything looks great when you're a kid, or the technological advancements made over time make older stuff look archaic. I'm not sure which.

Yeah, and the board used to make Gemini Wing was driven by an 8bit CPU! Not even a 16 bit 68000! How could it look that good! The mind remembers things in a funny way sometimes....
