So after playing the shmup TSDF Macross Do You Remember Love?, I got curious about what is actually going on in the game (I have the Japanese import version, and I'm completely baka when it comes to Japanese).
So I thought it would be a good idea to go and buy the English subtitled Anime on DVD.. Now for the question, is the Anime the game is based on released on DVD in the US? I can't find any place that sells it, or is the Anime named something different in the US?
TSDF Macross Do You Remember Love?, the Anime where..!?
Yeah, it follows the Macross storyline. However, you won't find a Macross movie on DVD (unless you don't mind JP-only or HK rips). The best you can do is hunt for the series. Search for Macross Complete Set or if you don't mind some English dubbing, the much cheaper Robotech: The Macross Saga. The Macross Complete Set is actually quite new and took a long time to get the property rights sorted out. The movie has always been a hotly disputed property and will probably take some more years to get licenses checked and released.
If you really wanna go for the movie now, there's actually 2 of them in English but on VHS only. There's the horribly dubbed Clash of the Bionoids and the hard to find Do You Remember Love. Both are adapted from the original DYRL movie in Japan, which is itself a whole season jampacked into one episode so take that as you will. It does make for a good and exciting story though.

Macross Do You Remember Love is a film adaptation of the series, it presents a few ideas not present in the original series, cuts some fat, and has a overall darker tone to it.
It's honestly my favorite anime movie but the only version I've seen of it is the poorly dubbed Clash of the Bionoids. I'd love to see this movie given the DVD treatment, it's well made and less sugary than the series. *-neo

Macross DYRL was released in the USA on VHS tape...
I was at my local Electronic Boutique a few years back and they were selling some brand new anime VHS tapes. One of the tapes said in bold letters: MACROSS
Here's the 411 on the MACROSS VHS tape:
Color
Cat. #965
Approx. 115 minutes
Distributed by Best Film & Video Corp. Hicksville, NY 11801
I proceeded to check it out and it was indeed the original Macross DYRL movie but under the new official title of "Superdimensional Fortress Macross" and it was indeed dubbed in English. It even has the famous nude shower scene that was omitted in the Clash of the Bionoids "kiddie sanitized" version.
Unfortunately, this particular Macross movie was recorded in EP mode and not in SP mode (to save on costs of transfering the movie to cheap VHS tapes). It was only a mere $9.99 U.S. dollars, ripe for the taking. Best ten bucks I've spent to check out the Macross DYRL movie that's been dubbed in English. Yes, it's easier to find the Clash of the Bionoids version than it is to find the rare "Superdimensional Fortress Macross" English VHS tape version.

It's called Super Dimension Fortress Macross - The Movie - Do You Remember Love.avi & it's about 727 MB.
Very good film indeed.
