KETSUI rom fix in the USA!

Post by drboom »

After contacting rtw on these here forums and asking about where I can get my Ketsui board fixed (the usual ROM 'Free Play' glitch), he told me about Southtown - Homebrew Specialists. I emailed them and $25 later, I had a working chip. I installed it in a matter of seconds and viola! A working, bug free Ketsui!
Kudos to Dan and the Southtown crew - great site and damn fine work on the chip.

Very very cool. I've seen a Ketsui glitch out on freeplay before, thought it was a buggy board. Nice to know!

Moved to Hardware.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Aparently, all the original boards had this glitch, so hopefully this'll help those who've gone for years without thinking there was a fix available.
Also - props to GP, who originally got me in touch with rtw.

I just put my original bios back in last night as I found the changed sound effects off putting.

I didn't notice any changed sounds - got to listen closer I guess...
EDIT: Nope, I went back and couldn't hear any difference.
