Boss style Shmups

Post by Iria76 »

What are the best Shmups in the vein of Slypheed?I mean at the middle of the stage you have a mid-boss and then a huge boss at the end of the same said stage, please send any suggestions of Shmups like these Japanese or otherwise.Thanks.

Well, a lot of shmups follow this mid boss --> end boss stage structure, including most Cave games. What you might be looking for is a 'boss rush' style game, where loads of bosses pack each stage, like Radiant Silvergun or to a lesser extent Ikaruga (especially stage 4). Of course you can play a game with just bosses, like the excellent freeware game Warning Forever.

Chaos Field is pretty much nothing but bosses.

Shikigami no Shiro, especially the first one.
