Raiden DX Original board Model designation???

Post by Dragon1952 »

Anyone have one of these? Does this newer board solve to audio problems that this game is noted for?

Audio quailty issues are on the "new" version (smaller board) re-released in 96 I believe. Get an original DX board and you will be fine.

Also, Seibu Kaihatsu officially released Raiden II: New Version PCB back in 1996 as well...

It's recommended to get the original 1993 Seibu PCB release of Raiden II as it sounds better than the newer '96 release of the same name...

Which board model number then for the original DX? I have Raiden 2 already....which board should that be?

This is the board I have for Raiden 2 which says "1993"! It sounds fine. After getting a defective Tatsujin Oh from Starpine, I am trying to be careful and secure the proper versions of whatever game I buy from Japan.

If you want the "good sound" version then it's the one using a FM soundchip... the later is PCM only thats why they sound so bad.
Also i noticed your Raiden 2 PCB has a bootleg YM2151 (BS901 i think)... it's not making any sound difference i just thought it was interesting and odd :)

Yes, that board looks exactly like my 93 DX (which unfortunately is not booting up at the moment :x ).
