No More Heroes for the Wii

Post by hermosaguy »

I am really considering picking this up. Anyone play it? I've seen some mixed reviews of it and I liked Killer 7, so I'm hoping this would be fun to play.

I liked Killer 7 a lot, well more the psycho plot than the actual gameplay. I'm really interested into NMH, but still without a Wii. Then again, I wouldn't dislike a port somewhere else, too.

Gamerankings.com has it at 88% from 8 media outlets, so the critics seem to like it (And there is much less of a variance in scores than Killer 7). I'm gonna get it eventually.

Not only there but I don't think "popular" is the right word for it...
Does anybody know whether the "censored" EU version also come with the comic book style instruction booklet like the JP one? Btw, Edge UK gave it a 9 :D

Wow, it's like that game ran over his kitten or something...

games are more like cars or motorcycles: comparing them is usually more of a technical matter than anything else.
This is where I stopped reading. How can someone be so wrong on so many levels? It's idiots like this that ensure games will never be taken seriously.

OT: I can't wait for NMH. I adored Killer 7 and everything I hear about NMH seems to suggest it's going to be sublime.

You mean idiots like Goichi Suda who are in the wrong business? Why doesn't he just make a movie, and then I'll pause it every ten minutes to play some Game & Watch games? It'd be the same fucking thing.

Ah, somebody with an objective opinion, supported by facts and constructive criticism. Seems, you spend too much time with the GameFaqs "community", Josh

I really enjoyed killer 7.... don't play his game then you pap smear.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

the no more heroes review is pretty poor, but he topped it with the article on sequels. i could explain to him where he's going wrong. i could even do it without swears, insults, or calling everything that isn't in line with my opinion as "dumb". oh but wait, i got banned with a grand total of zero posts  that's a record, even for the insomnia boards

http://insomnia.ac/commentary/sequel_the_videogame/
(it's long, but worth it for tons of unintentional comedy)

Hehe, one of a kind
The article was even "featured" on GameSetWatch. I especially like the last paragraph about the "artfags"...you can literally feel his nerdrage creeping out of the screen. Scary
Btw, how does one get banned with zero posts on a board? Offensive nickname?!

I'm definitely getting this. I actually didn't much like Killer 7, because the gameplay was just wooden, and it really emphasized story and style over the gameplay which annoyed me. NMH, however, looks to have a much larger focus on gameplay, and from what I've seen is very fun to play. I'm willing to give Suda another chance to impress me.

he bans people that disagree with his opinions. so maybe it was a 'pre-emptive strike', george bush style 8)

i sincerely hope i don't turn into some bitter and twisted 30-something nerd that pays out of his own pocket to get on his soapbox and rant on the internet, and only to be laughed at left, right, and centre.

no trolls please
he bans people that disagree with his opinions
The only ones I've seen banned are people that come in saying how ______ is fucking stupid but instead of offering any legitimate reasons why it is fucking stupid they rely on ad hominem exclusively.
You don't get Goichi Suda.
He would be an awesome director, plus it would have the benefit of his audience not having to play simplistic mini-games to advance the plot.

I picked this up on impulse (and due to lack of much good gaming on the Wii) tonight.

I'll let you guys know how it is... uh... tomorrow sometime.

I honestly don't know what to make of this game.

I mean, on one hand, its not well made. Lame graphics. controls/camera could be worlds better, the sand box bits aren't good at all, and there's just not too much to it (yet, I'm ranked #9 now).

But that said, the writing is incredibly funny and somehow the game is incredibly fun.

'Tis odd.

Seems to me that if the game is incredibly fun, it's well-made.

Well, I meant from a technical stand point.

The controls are kinda lacking. The AI is dumb. The graphics aren't very good. The camera is a bit annoying. Level designs are nothing special. Etc.

Yet despite all this... the game is fun. There's just something rewarding about swinging the wiimote and watching someone's head go flying and a fountain of blood shoot out of them.

Here's the online version of the EDGE review. Good read and an interesting contrast when compared with the rant on insomnia
Imo they bring froward some really good arguments.
