Battle Garegga - Saturn: Score Attack Mode

Post by Icarus »

NOTE: This thread is no longer being updated. If there is no new thread created and you wish to make one, just copy-paste and notify a mod to lock this one down.

Okay, this board's for my beloved Battle Garegga, but unlike Rando's well-maintained regular game mode highscore thread (which I urge you to visit and participate in posthaste ^_-), this Garegga high score thread is dedicated to the Saturn version's Score Attack Mode.

Probably the most important feature of Score Attack is that stages start at the lowest possible rank level. While this does not give you the optimal tool for practicing the game at the correct rank levels, this will give you the opportunity to learn stage and boss strategies for use in the main game mode.

Not sure how well received this score thread will be, but it'll probably be a fun diversion from the vicious regular game mode for some people ^_^

So, the rules and requirements!
For the rules etc, Icarus wrote:
  • Make sure you're playing Garegga on the Saturn version, on its default difficulty and Extend settings. That means Arcade Diff, and 1mil per Extend.
  • Controller and screen setups can be customised to your liking.
  • You must be playing in Score Attack Mode.
  • If you want to use the ship subtypes, use these commands before pressing Start:

    Code: Select all

At the score attack screen (hold buttons before pressing Start):
      Y + Start - B Type
      Z + Start - C Type
      X + Y + Z + Start - ABC Type
  • Enter your score in the format:

    Stage Played:
SCORE - PLAYER NAME - SHIP USED [SUBTYPE]

    So, for example:
    Icarus wrote:Stage 5
    3,414,770 - Icarus - Bornnam [ABC]
  • The score tables have a limitless length, and will be extended whenever new participants submit scores, so do not worry about your score being purged.
  • Have fun playing and entering your scores!

Hmm, something tells me we'll be seeing lots of Wild Snail scores, heh heh. I don't see much way around it though, since splitting up each stage for the 8 individual planes is too much even for my table-splitting tastes.

In any event, methinks I might fire up the ol' Saturn again one of these days...hope the thread is a success! :)

I doubt it. ^_-
The Snail isn't the highest scoring of all ships - Gain scores far higher in stage2, for example, while non-piercing ships like Bornnam and Silver Sword fare better in stage5 where they can score better against Nose Lavagghin2 and Mad Ball2 - so stage scores are not only dependent on strategy, but ship as well.

In any rate, good luck everyone. ^_^
I'll drop up my Cloud record to get things started:

Stage 5
3,414,770 - Icarus - Bornnam [ABC]

A screenshot of this can be posted if required.
(Got the replay saved as well ^_^)

Woah, that's impressive ^_^

My best is about 640k with Wild Snail. Then again, having a lot of Options does add a bit to score... ^_-

Keep 'em coming!

Yeah, those splashy option shots really rack up the "chip" damage a lot...even if you don't try particularly hard, Lavvie's wings are pretty worn down by the end of a battle with Miyamoto, heh heh.
