Dangun Feveron (yeah)

Post by Tigershark »

OK, flame me, I don't care, but why can't we have more games like this? Why can't shooters have more music like this? I love the second stage disco vibe. Smiling while shooting. Great mantra.

Seriously though, are there any other games out there like this at all 'cause if there are I want more.

Brilliant stuff.

Anyone else bored of the same old sci-fi music or heavy rock?

Aye!
Although, a Heavy Metal themed shmup would be appreciated!

Isn't DDP pretty much heavy metal-themed?

Nah, that's more like hair metal, I'd say.

Shienryu always struck me as a heavy metal-themed shmup.

Or cock rock, I guess.

Yeah, Night Raid rocks harder than any other shmup I've played. And for that reason it really appeals to me, regardless of the control system people complain about.

Anyway, I uesd to hate Dangun when I first got into Cave stuff, since it was so different than their other work, but have come to love it as a pure OCD adrenaline rush (one that I still suck at completely).

I just want more shmups with Feveron's visceral intensity, whatever the audiovisual style.

Having said that, I think the glitzy excess of disco matches Feveron's gameplay perfectly.

All you need is a battery operated mini disco ball placed on top of your Japanese arcade cabinet with a spotlight shined on it for that complete full-on ambient lighitng effect when playing that cool Dangun Feveron PCB. Get your groove on, baby! ^_~

Heaven is here inside my soul!

Anyway, Turbo Force reminds me of the intro to the Heavy Metal movie where the astronaut drops from space to Earth in his classic Corvette.

Easy solution: mute the game and put on the disco music you love so. ;) I never play shmups with their sound on (except the first session, to check out the music at least once).

Say what you will about the game, but Viewpoint has a superb dancey soundtrack.

(yeah)

I agree.

I would also say the same about a game called Fever S.O.S. If you like Dangun Feveron you should give it a try, you'd probably like it as well.

I really don't see how Dangun Feveron and Fever S.O.S. are alike at all.

I like Feveron, quite alot.

Granted, I like anything Cave makes, but still.

And yeah, I agree, the music for the game is great. Definitely not your usual stuff.

Such a crazy game..... need to get around to trying to 1cc it one of these days here....

Yeah - I like the Zed Blade soundtrack.

I want a shmup with a proper techno soundtrack though. Pounding gabba like. Or some nice UK Dreamscape style old skool hardcore. Whistles, horns, hands in the air crew, etc.

Frankly, being at a Helter Skelter rave surrounded by neon clad ravers and lazers is a little like a shmup. Dodging the lit ends of cigarettes.

Well I was never into rave stuff at all. More a Smiths and Stone Roses fan.

Anyway music in shooters should not be underestimated and forms an integral part of the game. The trouble with hard rock/thrash and techno tracks is that they are often instantly forgetable.

Think of Giga Wing 2 and Rez and the way the music works on those games. Dangun Feveron works because of the game and that is the important order of things - music does not make the game, the game makes the music.

A break beat shooter would be brilliant. I'd love a shooter that worked like Vib Ribbon, so it built levels around inserted CDs.

Have to work with tape packs too though wouldn't it CLP? Anybody else still buy them?

I'm actually more of a hardcore punk and old rock n roll fan, but for some reason Slipmatt and Kenny Ken do it for me! HTID or something! OI OI!

You should check out the Bullet Philharmonic Orchestra game (freeware). You give it any song and it will shoot bullets at you to the music.

Feck, tape packs piss me off. Got bleeding tons of the things, all needing ripping to MP3 one day. AND THEY STILL MAKE THEM. I honestly believe that there's this huge stash of tapes and boxes that Slammin' bought years ago that they're still using up - in this day and age there is no way that tapes are cheaper than CDs to produce.

Or its a tradition thing.

And utterly off-topic - http://www.slamminvinyl.com/index.php HHW4 tickets available :D

Zillion Beatz is a manic shooter with a mode where beats are in sync with the patterns. The soundtrack is a mix of distorted guitar and pumping techno :D Look

Ah yes - I've seen that on Youtube somewhere before. Is it a doujin shmup?

Thanks for the heads up...
