Bioship Paladin anyone?
That sounds good, so how 'bout this.

Your 1st & 2nd must have Shmups AND the 1 Shmup that would make you gladly eat a musket ball! ( Im trying to keep the island theme going here. Work with me, ok!? )

Hehe, how about being stuck on an island with nothing but your handy DS and Lost in Blue to play.
Kind of like spending the year at a farm playing Harvest Moon.
Trek trough the Galaxy on silver wings and play football online.

Gosh Wally, I CAN'T choose just ONE!

Definitely none of that Cave garbage though.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

We have this bitter salty sandwich spread in the UK everyone only ever loves or hates, called Marmite.

Cave is a Marmite shooter I guess.

I like Marmite alot, and Cave alot. Maybe they're connected!

I like Cave but strongly dislike Marmite.

Marmite is bad, and if you like it, you are a bad person.

Ooh! Big slam on Cave from out of nowhere!

Not everybody is a fan of Cave, but I don't think their games qualify as garbage by any means. The Cave games I've played have been very good on all fronts.

I don't know that he's had much experience with Cave, could just be talkin' smack. He seems to like Milestone games and Nintendo consoles, both of which are frequently talked down here.

Part of me wants to say MarsMatrix so I could finally unlock the alternate background colors, plus it has a great arrange mode, so its almost 2 games in one...

another part of me wants to say Layer Section because I haven't been able to get past that last level for all these years and I find the game flawless...

but my first choice is Radiant Silvergun cause I have so long to master it, probably will take a lifetime if not longer...

This is an easy one to answer... Thunder Force IV, the MegaDrive version. No goofy 99 ship code, the game's true name, and all the awesome music, graphics and gameplay that makes the game a fantastic play from start to finish.

DDP:DOJ probably because it's so hard I would never have to worry about 1CCing it, or ESPGaluda because it's so great and despite the fact that I can already nearly 1CC it.

While not everyone is a fan of Cave games, I think he feels the need to give Cave extra flak because it's so popular (especially around here). Remember when it was cool to say Radiant Silvergun is overrated? This is the same thing =P

I don't go around talking trash about Raizing games, saying they're garbage or whatnot. I'm very openly not fond of Raizing games, but I definitely see the quality in them as well as the appeal many have for them.

As I never could play Ketsui, I can't help asking: considering the good reputation of this game, and especially its strong points often mentionned by experimented members here (appreciations like "incredibly addictive" or "incredible replay value"), Ketsui seems far less mentionned than I would have expected.

Is it just that we're many to not have played ketsui, or is there really something in ketsui's gameplay or mechanics which makes it appear a bit "less deep on the long time" than some other games to be a popular choice ?

Pretty sure that's it, out of the vast sea of members here, only a minuscule minority get to play it. I'm sure some day it'll have the spotlight, once it's playable on MAME. I just wonder if it will be able to dethrone DDP or GV in the 2012 shmups Top 25...
