Rules:

-Default settings (2 start extends, slow off)
-Only scores with a slowdown of less than 10% will be accepted
-Only scores of the full version will be accepted. Make sure you have patched it to version 1.00b.
-New rule: If you post a score that is better than the current champion in a table, you have to post a replay for validation. If you don't know how to post a replay, shoot me a pm.

Please post in the following format:

Nickname - Score - Stage - Percentage of slowdown (%) - Character used (and type)

Also mention which difficulty you played of course.
Post a replay if possible, or take a screenshot if you want.
Score tables are now limited to 15 entries. Do better if you want to be on it.

Easy:
790,610,170 - moozooh - ALL - 0.48% - Reimu B (replay).

In before zdk. :P

The run's still pretty crappy, though, I should aim for like a billion instead.

I believe that counts as a challenge! I have no idea how to score in this game though. with IN, it was collect time orbs, MoF, chain faith, PCB is....ummm....cherry, and borders, and shoot sometimes? unfocused, cherry max, cherry plus...what!?
first practice run got me 752, with some stupid deaths and bombs, I'll edit in something better, when i get a replay i can stand to watch.

seriously, you going to run EoSD now?please don't :P

Oh, but I do run EoSD from time to time. Want me to start a hiscore thread? That would be no problem.

Wha...? No Master Spark scores?

Sigh...

Hard:
477,937,020-CIV-ALL-0.33%-Marisa B-Replay

I gotta bomb less...it kills the Cherry Points...way more than dying does.

Edit:
Normal:
656,448,450-CIV-ALL-0.87%-Marisa B Replay

5 misses, 12 bombs, 20 spell cards.

Now to work on that no miss...

Marisa B is what kills your score, not bombs. Her cherry+ gain rate is second worst, and bomb penalty is pretty unforgiving in addition to that. Try Marisa-A or Reimu-B instead, they rack up cherry+ like there's no tomorrow.

[EDIT]
Lol damn it, was going to have a decent Normal mode 1CC but fatigue or some other shit kicked in, and from about stage 4 boss fight the whole run went downhill pretty quickly, resulting in me dying FOUR times on Yuyuko. Amazing, isn't it. :\

637,412,180 - moozooh - ALL - 0.63% - Reimu B (replay).

I'm going to get the 2nd place this week, though, definitely am.

Thread updated.

By the way, would anyone care if I removed the Demo-version table? I mean, who plays the demo version on a comparative level anyway? :/

Perhaps so. I didn't even make a board for it in the MoF thread, and no-one complained so far. :P
But on a more serious note, if somebody wants to play the game competitively, they ought to buy/leech it and compete. Not that hard to do either, people are doing it with non-doujin games all the time anyway.

Board raid incoming.

Hard:
389,421,120 - moozooh - 5 - 0.75% - Reimu B (replay).

My 4th run through hard mode, got just a little bit further than my previous attempt survival-wise, but got almost 140 millions better score. Will be having a 1CC soon, just after I weed out the early deaths and make a more consistent route through stage 4.

Extra:
698,566,630 - moozooh - ALL - 0.39% - Reimu B (replay).

Phantasm:
595,528,030 - moozooh - ALL - 0.44% - Reimu B (replay).

Phantasm is a bit of a failure; I died several times with a lot of remaining bombs. But hell, whatever works. The stage is pretty hard as it is.

FUCK YES HARD 1CC!

615,304,090 - moozooh - ALL - 0.54% - Reimu B (replay).

I'm so incredibly happy I could die. My hands were shaking during the last two spellcards when I ran out of extends. Still can't believe I made it, especially before Imperishable Night or Mountain of Faith, which are both much easier, at least if played for survival.

IN has half-second counterbomb chance and easier patterns. MoF just has half a hundred of bombs to use and puts less pressure overall (final boss is a joke, I can no-miss/no-bomb her like every 3rd try, that never happens in PCB). When playing for survival, PCB is definitely harder. And I still wanted to score, as seen from my final result. :)

All these games (PCB, IN, MoF) have highly damaging bombs, depending on the character. Your point?

Post scores instead of smart-talk.

And gratz on the 1cc moozooh, hard is a nice accomplishment indeed. You even got a pretty good score to go with it :)
Also, I cannot view your replays. I'm not going to invalidate you or anything, just make sure you patch the game to version 1.00b when you submit future scores. I don't know exactly how much the version difference matters, but at least the replays are not compatible.

I can't manage to do it on Lunatic yet myself, unless I use 4 extends instead of the default 2, and bomb my way through everything :(

That's odd. You are pretty much the first person I know that wasn't able to watch my replays. o_0

And my version IS 1.00b.

That's fairly weird, since yours are the only ones I cannot view xD
Anyway, I'll try to figure out what the problem is. Don't worry about it.

hell yes! hard 1cc on PCB. I've been trying to do this for a while now (on and off for 1 year+, sorry i suck at shmups heh).

This definitely would have beaten moozooh's score if not for two rapid, really stupid wtf deaths on youmu (on asura sword, of all cards, the one that only requires you to tap right slowly for about 30 seconds  ).
basically, sakuya B's focused bomb is awesome :)
I still have no idea how to score effectively in this game though. (well I guess not dying a ridiculous number of times would help)
hard:
572,221,560 - zdk - ALL - 0.18% - Sakuya B (replay).

1. Collect everything, not die, not bomb where it hurts score.
2. Graze unfocused during supernatural borders.
3. Time your borders by shooting focused, strategic bombing, or skipping cherry items.
4. Graze during spellcards to rack up bonuses, milk non-spellcard attacks for graze points.

It's actually pretty anal.

the border timing on the most recent japanese WR's is ridiculous, btw, that was like watching a piece of art (well, except for a few parts which were "hey, bomb here repeatedly for score")
1. Collect everything, not die, not bomb where it hurts score.
2. Graze unfocused during supernatural borders.
3. Time your borders by shooting focused, strategic bombing, or skipping cherry items.
4. Graze during spellcards to rack up bonuses, milk non-spellcard attacks for graze points.
yeah, I kind of know the basic idea. probably, it would be more accurate to state that I really suck at scoring in PCB :P.
In contrast to the IN scoring system, which can be summarized:

1. collect time orbs
2. use youmu solo
3. profit

Funny that only one IN WR is done with Youmu solo (Extra, that is). :P
I think it's because Reimu is a bit more profitable to fight on Easy, and Youmu faces Marisa instead.

Also, don't shoot the boss while doing this. You won't get cherry points for shooting a boss while in a border. Just focus on grazing.

You want to avoid using focus at all, really. There's only a few parts where you need it to destroy the enemies quick enough, otherwise just stay unfocused for more cherry points.

Finally, there's a few characters who have an awful cherry collection rate, so you want to avoid those when playing for score.

Yes. In fact, only three characters are actually worth considering:
• Reimu B — well-balanced all around, easy to handle with her negligible bombing penalty;
• Marisa A — slightly better than Reimu B in terms of cherry+ gain rate but much harder to handle when unfocused, and bombing at a wrong time decimates the score;
• Sakuya B — has a large graze area and awesome bombs geared for high difficulty level bullet canceling (you can get up to 15-25k cherry+ per bomb on Lunatic at specific moments, which is the reason professional players use it to get borders exactly where they need them).

I wonder what was on my mind when I decided to post my score before my nick in my first post, and with that swayed everyone else to do the same. >_>
Anyways…

Phantasm:
moozooh - 729,397,900 - C - 0.87% - Reimu B (replay).

I'm totally not done with it yet! :P
Now that I can time some of the borders effectively, it's not too hard to rack up cherry before Yukari, and it pays for itself during the main fight, and does so much better than survival alone (which would otherwise not let me get more than ~700 millions). I guess I'll try shooting for 800 now.

[EDIT]
Hehe.

Normal:
moozooh - 799,860,580 - ALL - 0.49% - Reimu B (replay).

#2 BABY!!!

[EDIT2]
Easy:
moozooh - 795,444,110 - ALL - 0.82% - Reimu B (replay).

Levels 1-3 and about a half of stage 4 were good, then it quickly went downhill. Mistimed borders, multiple deaths where they absolutely shouldn't happen, and adding to the injury, failing both Repository of Hirokawa and Reflowering (hit a bullet on the final volley while being in a border), robbing myself of ~30 millions of spellcard bonuses as well as a life.

Back to Easy #1:
moozooh - 907,397,710 - ALL - 0.46% - Marisa A (replay).

I know I could reach a billion if I worked more on powergrazing strategies for stage 4 and survival on stage 6, but I'm really pleased with this score. If I were to improve it, it would definitely not be anytime soon.

Now I need to improve both extra stages.

Not official or anything, but here is my attempt at completing stage 6 on Lunatic without moving a single pixel. It's way more luck-dependent than I thought originally, and I'd say my luck on that attempt was 7 out of 10. I need something like 8+ for a clear, and in addition to that, getting 124 (not more and preferrably not less) items before Youmu. Quite fun, though!
